Ein Krimi wie von Shane Black :-) Die Faultiere haben mich so zum Lachen gebracht, wie schon lange nichts. Bis die Tränen kamen! Das Design der Tiere ist reizend, es gibt viele verspielte Details und treffende Anspielungen auf die reale Welt der Menschen sowie klassische Filme. Eine perfekte tschechische Synchronisierung. Für das heutige Europa hat es noch dazu eine Bedeutungsdimension, welche die Autoren wahrscheinlich gar nicht beabsichtigt haben. Einen fünften Stern gibt’s nicht, weil der Film keine so inhaltsreiche Gedankengrundlage wie Alles steht Kopf hat. Zoomania ist "nur“ eine perfekte Unterhaltung. (29.03.2016)

Zootopia cleverly combines the narrative formula of a cop movie about a rookie learning the ropes, a (neo-)noir crime film and socio-political satire. The individual levels are integral to each other and it doesn’t happen that, for example, a case is closed after an hour and a new story begins. It remains necessary to find out why the animals reverted to a feral state, which is why Judy has to return to her hometown for inspiration. There, thanks to the reformed Gideon, she discovers that the treacherousness of some animals is not connected with their origin, but with their nature. The action scenes also have a deeper dramaturgical foundation, taking as an example the Little Rodentia chase scene, during which Judy pursues a thief, who later helps her track down who is behind everything, and also saves the life of the mob boss’s daughter, who later plays her own role. Shortly before the end, Judy can use her acting skills, a demonstration of which we first saw in the opening scene, which leads to an elegant conclusion. It is a joy to see how the filmmakers took care to ensure that the individual components of the narrative worked together and that no motifs seemed incidental. In addition to its textbook conciseness, the film is also delightful with its references to The Godfather and Mission: Impossible (chase on/in a train) and intelligent humour (the now almost cult scene with sloths), which requires a bit more attention and patience from the viewer than other animated studio films. An added bonus that elevates this solid animated multi-genre feature to the level of one of the best American films of recent years is the sensitively composed message (very topical yet universal) about the equality of all animals, the consequences of prejudice, the drawbacks of dishonest political gamesmanship and the risks associated with speaking recklessly. Though the film does not criticise the police – on the contrary, it uses the militarisation of the police for one of the final gags – it points out that those who have great power and great influence on public opinion should choose their words especially carefully. Zootopia may not offer as elaborate a world as some Pixar films or the abundance of straightforward entertainment provided by Madagascar 3, but emotionally, narratively and intellectually, it is the pinnacle of contemporary animation and (perhaps) a future Disney classic. 90% (02.03.2021)

This is the best human rights agitprop, and I only take issue with the creative cowardice regarding the fundamental moral issue of predator eating habits. Otherwise, it is in all respects an absolutely fantastic crime film, a top-notch buddy movie, a dynamic action ride, and an all-round reference (Jesse and Walter are amazing!) containing a spectacle that will define the term "feel good" for a long time to come. Ananimated moviethat combines adult life with an animal life intended for children. Zootopia is cute, kind, funny and here and there, there’s a stellar joke for the adults watching, because the universe brings us true gifts every other day. I even think that the sloths at the DMV were probably the best scene I’ve ever seen in a 3D-animated movie. However, at the same time, it still maintains a pleasant, cute and childish wit that the even children will appreciate. Zootopia was simply a success. (25.11.2016)

My child self had a wonderful day today! This is thanks to the amazing city of Zootropolis, which is full of cute animals of different sizes and personalities. It makes me so happy that someone can come up with something so magical and play with every little detail. In short, it's an incredibly uplifting film with an upbeat soundtrack that makes you want to dance and scream "I can do it!" when you don't even know what it is you can do. So if you need to recharge your batteries or at least get a taste of that childlike enthusiasm again for a few minutes, go check it out. 5 stars. How about making a whole movie about the sloths? :) (03.07.2016)

An excellent detective movie with a social overlap, beautifully reflecting prejudices, bullying and media manipulation as well. Who cares if a fox and a rabbit are in the main roles. Old fables in a new format. First-rate action, humorous word duels, hilarious gags to entertain both kids and adults. I admit that my kids sat there gobsmacked by some of the darker scenes that are quite serious for a kids movie, but still it’s good that they are shown some of the down-sides of globalization. A wonderful world, classic music and, is it just me, or did else notice some small tributes to The Last Scout? (25.03.2016)

Der 55. Disney-Spielfilm. Wer hätte das gedacht, aber die Kombination von Disney und einer Stadt voller Tiere ist natürlich absolut niedlich. Bei Disney arbeitet man so lange mit 3D-Animationen, dass man den ganzen Film genießen und in der Zwischenzeit den Drang unterdrücken muss, die Hauptfigur zu streicheln. Denn Judy Hopps könnte es in einer Person mit all den Freunden aus der rührenden Geschichte von Bambi aufnehmen. Und das will schon etwas heißen. (01.02.2020)

Eine Utopie mit Tierchen, oder möchte man - eine Stadt mit Tieren, die friedlich zusammenleben, ohne Unterschiede und ohne sich gegenseitig aufzufressen, helfen sie sich. Eine Stadt, in der jeder der sein kann, der er möchte, so die Hauptheldin. Eigentlich habe ich einen größeren Flop erwartet, der letzte Zeichentrickfilm, den ich von Disney gesehen habe, waren (wenn ich mich nicht irre) verrückte Lieder namens Strange Magic, womit ich bei den Zeichentrickkreationen von Mickey Maus anfing, die Flinte ins Korn zu schmeißen. Außerdem, welche Tiere verhalten sich wie Menschen? Ich bin in letzter Zeit allzu oft auf dieses Thema gestoßen, und nach einem weiteren ziemlich anständigen Fiasko für mich namens Norm of the North und dem Horror von Agent F.O.X. wollte ich das eigentlich gar nicht. Am Ende haben mich die positiven Bewertungen, die ich hier in der Diskussion gesehen habe, überzeugt und ich muss sagen, dass ich wirklich sehr positiv überrascht war. Die Animation ist sehr schön, die Umgebung ist interessant und einfallsreich. Die Charaktere sind interessant, Judy ist süß (obwohl ich das wahrscheinlich nicht über sie sagen sollte...) und Nick ist einfach ein netter Kerl. Die Geschichte ist sehr gut und man kann getrost sagen, dass sie eine ziemlich gute Detektivgeschichte mit vielen Wendungen und einer ungewöhnlich aufwendigen Darstellung der Ermittlungen ist. SPOILER sicherlich suchte ich den ersten Verdächtigen (Täter) und dachte, dass es schön wäre, wenn er es wäre und die Tatsache, dass dies für mich wahr würde, freute mich, aber in dem Moment wartete ich auf das Ende und eine vage Nachricht über Gleichberechtigung zwischen Allen Tieren überraschte mich, als sich die Autoren entschlossen haben, die Pointe noch weiter interessant auszuführen. Der wahre Täter hat in dem Moment, in dem ich wusste, dass es eigentlich klar wie Kloßbrühe ist, und der Punkt über die Gleichberechtigung zwischen allen Tieren und die Botschaft des gesamten Films funktionierten ziemlich gut. SPOILER ENDE Was den Humor angeht, war es keine volle Ladung, wo ich den ganzen Film über Spaß haben würde, aber meistens hatte ich ein angenehmes Gefühl und manchmal habe ich gelacht (Faultiere, Mafia-Boss...). Unterm Strich habe ich einen sehr angenehmen Animationsfilm gesehen und bin zufrieden. 8,4/10 (03.03.2016)

Ich wünsche mir schon lange, dass jemand den herrlichen Comic "Grandville" von Bryan Talbot verfilmt, und Zoomania kommt meiner Vorstellung davon, wie es ungefähr aussehen sollte, sehr nahe. Es handelt sich um einen fantasievollen Zeichentrickfilm aus einer durchdachten Welt mit einer Geschichte, die es vielleicht sogar in einer Krimikomödie für Erwachsene geben könnte (Nur 48 Stunden, Last Boy Scout, Midnight Run - 5 Tage bis Mitternacht), mit sympathischen Figuren und der besten Der-Pate-Parodie, die ich je gesehen habe. What good animated entertainment should primarily be based on, i.e. a playful and colourful alternative to the real world and its social rules, here is brought to perfection, or very close to it. Starring animals of all kinds, it fits the classic buddy movie motifs and mystery detective plot far better than any human crew in the golden era of the genre. Perfect setting, witty personifications of the characters and projection of their characteristics into the cycle of city life (the sloths at the DMV office are AWESOME), a fresh soundtrack and a bunch of hilarious references to famous films. Surprisingly serious at times, applying a bit of lowbrow clichés and family cartoon sentiment, but mostly a joy to watch – a sequel is a must, preferably with Shane Black on board ;) 85% (11.05.2016)

Zootropolis is a beautifully made animated film that also offers a variety of characters and scenes that are funny, dark and action-packed. What I liked the most, like probably the vast majority of the audience, was the scene from the traffic inspectorate full of sloths, I enjoyed it immensely. Other sequences like the parody of The Godfather were the icing on a very good cake bursting with all sorts colours, I enjoyed it very much. Even though the identity of the main villain was pretty clear to me from about halfway through the investigation, Zootropolis is still not somewhere in the grey average – society is nicely portrayed through the example of animals, and there is no shortage of allusions to the various equalities between individuals. In short, a nice and pleasant surprise in the form of a likeable animated film full of colour, humour and action, finished with the amazing song "Try Everything" by Shakira. (09.04.2016)

Excellent animated film. A combination of anti-speciesist comedy and detective story.  Bateman as the fox was superb. I was totally blown away by the sloths and the wolves’ reactions to sounds or problems. Their expressions were priceless. I was expecting quality visuals and humor, and both were fantastic, so I couldn’t be happier. I also loved Mr. Big. A real treat. (22.06.2016)

Right at the beginning of the year, an excellent animated film that will likely have only a few competitors. Besides the fact that the animation is absolutely amazing and the animals in it look excellent, not only visually but also in their movements, as they truly have the movements of animals, even though they are anthropomorphized, you also get a great detective story that is thrilling and never stops being entertaining.
