(koch films)

Englisch When Hollywood negotiated that after the congenially contradictory and daringly conceived Shin Godzilla, the Japanese were not allowed to make a fictional version of the King of Destruction for several years due to licensing, it significantly untied their hands. And the concept of this intended trilogy proves it. It´s stunningly stimulating. And in the first movie, the potential is not fully reached. Not only not reached, more precisely crumpled, fluffed, blown and thrown into an overfilled cesspit. What´s wrong? Everything. The visuals are simply disgusting and what is worse, obviously sloppy. The first fifty minutes would fit into two sentences in the prologue (the prologue is brilliant by the way). Nothing happens during this time. So, apart from the fact that bunch of clichéd characters that nonstop crying and whining but in fact saying nothing. Neither doing anything. The viewer was probably supposed to form another relationship with them than kind of “ I hope they will die slowly and painfully in the next scene". And the unbearable central brat only makes things worse. When something finally starts to happen, it's cluttered, without ideas and dull. Perhaps only the final scene will stand the test in this mess, although the only really good part apart from the prologue is the final five minutes, which one would expect so ... I´m not sure, in the fifth minute of the movie, perhaps? If you didn´t feel comfortable about the fact that overseas Godzilla was without real Godzilla (it´s even worse here) and that the last Japanese movie was not “kaiju fight of destructive second-rate despite its ambition, satire and setting mirror (this one is even worse), then you will hardly be happy about this one either. More likely, you will be unhappy. ()
