Die Eiskönigin - Völlig unverfroren

I’m not claiming that animated films for kids should be supported by a logically bulletproof story, but bugger me, if I’m already squeezing such a complicated plot, I would make damn sure that it makes sense at least within its basic framework, but in Frozen I said WTF way too often. Yet I won’t deny that I had some solid popcorn fun. Officially, only three stars for the film, the fourth is for “Let It Go” :-) (19.01.2014)

I kind of think that it must be the musical aspect of Frozen that overshadows all else. Precisely because of it I was looking forward to this movie and in the end it is just this musical aspect that makes this movie somewhat good. The animation is just average. On top of that, for a fairy tale, the story line is quite confusing. (25.12.2019)

Strangely built. In the first half, nothing at all happens. There are too many songs in every other scene and they seem unnatural and forced (just a regular musical with questionable quality of production) to finally start something in the second half (such as Hans Christian Andersen à la Disney) and suddenly the songs start disappearing until they disappear completely (final half an hour). Beautifully styled and thanks to the second half even more for boys than one would expect from a "princess fairy tale with way to many songs". Which, in any case, does not change the fact that it is undoubtedly more for the girls, and the role of the male characters, which are clearly in numbers here (perhaps except for Olaf and the reindeer), corresponds to this. A cute fairy tale and probably a well-deserved Oscar. There are too many songs for my taste, but the central one is very cool. Visually, the film is great, there is a typical twist and a pretty emotional finale, so definitely above average, although I am not the target audience and there could have been more humour... 75% (31.10.2018)

One of the most mature Disney fairytales, where the twist is not far away and proof that the display case of legendary princesses even has room for two new members. Elsa and Anna are two adorable creatures, one with her fateful loneliness ("Let it go...") and the other with boundless honesty ("Could it be this way...?"), and despite the charisma or lines of the supporting characters, the kingdom relies entirely on their relationship. And thanks to them and the usual top musical numbers led by "For the First Time in Forever", the score is a rich one and the product of careful consideration. Frozen is definitely not flawless and it falls half a step short compared to my most beloved pieces (including the oft-mentioned Tangled), but it is not worth underestimating the animated event of the year. Disney breaks the classic story archetypes and serves them in an untraditional kid’s story full of ice, snow and a snowmen who is nice as hell. This is the zenith of this year’s range of animated movies. But don’t try telling me that this wasn’t written by some kind of fanatic feminist. ;-) (27.03.2014)

53. Disney-Spielfilm Nachdem ich das Phänomen Die Eiskönigin - Völlig unverfroren jahrelang gemieden habe, muss ich nun endlich zugeben, dass es ein Disney-Film ist, der Spaß macht. Das Hauptthema ist die Kraft der schwesterlichen Bindung, was erfrischend ist. Die beiden Hauptfiguren sind interessant geschrieben, das neue Konzept unabhängiger weiblicher Figuren ist insgesamt eine nette Sache. Gelungen ist auch die Stilisierung von Andersens Skandinavien. Ich bin neugierig auf die neue Ausrichtung der Welt der Mäuse. Neue Animationsfilme müssen wirklich nicht nur für Mädchen und Jungen sein, sondern es ist ein Gewinn, wenn die ganze Familie Spaß daran hat. (06.06.2019)

Die Eiskönigin - Völlig unverfroren ist meiner Meinung nach ein bisschen besser als der gefeierte Film Rapunzel - Neu verföhnt. Einige Dinge waren in diesem Film aber überflüssig (leider auch der Schneemann Olaf), andere haben wiederrum gefehlt. Deshalb kann ich ihn nicht mit fünf Sternen bewerten. Jedenfalls hat mir Folgendes gefallen: die beeindruckende Stimmung des Nordens, eine Wendung in der Handlung, die ich wirklich nicht erwartet habe, der sanfte Humor, die Musik, die süßliche Romantik (mit der man aber gut gearbeitet hat) und das Rentier Sven. While it's more of a feel-good musical than a children's story full of plot and classical themes, Disney hasn't done this well with a similarly-tuned fairy tale in a long time. Regardless, it's really something to watch, the animation is perfect, the story is suspenseful, the characters are adorable to beautiful (the girls are really good) and the humour is just the right kind to suit any pompous critic with an icicle up their ass. And the music, which usually bothers me elsewhere, was really charming and good this time. The best animated flick of the year, that’s very clear... 80% (31.01.2014)

Long, long time I haven't laughed so freely in the cinema. Walt Disney once again showed, after a few years, that he still knows how to make princess stories with great characters, beautiful locations, and excellent music. "Frozen" continues the tradition of "Tangled" and I hope that in another three years we will see a similarly excellent animated film. And as Christmas approaches, I go straight to 100% because this is simply an experience that can lift your mood so much that it lasts until the New Year. (02.12.2013)
