Ich hatte vergessen, mein Probeabonnement für Apple TV zu kündigen, also habe ich mehr oder weniger aus Langeweile versucht, auf 𝔽𝕠𝕣 𝔸𝕝𝕝 𝕄𝕒𝕟𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕕 zu klicken und einige Zeit des lästigen Krankseins zu überbrücken. Zwei Tage und 20 Episoden später bin ich total süchtig. Die einfache Idee einer alternativen Geschichte, in der die Sowjets als erste eine Flagge auf dem Mond hissen und das Wettrennen im Weltraum beginnt, führt zu einer köstlichen Mischung aus emanzipatorischem Drama und einer Art realistischem Star-Trek-Prequel. Es ist eine schöne, inklusive Angelegenheit mit vielen coolen, starken weiblichen und ambivalenten männlichen Charakteren, die NASA-Liebhabern wahrscheinlich nicht so gefallen werden wie ein Haufen Weltraum-Cowboys. Aber wenn man Star Wars (die echten), Der Marsianer - Rettet Mark Watney und Aufbruch zum Mond mag, ist es eine absolute Droge.

An alternative history of astronautics, where it was the Soviets who first landed on the moon, offers a quality mix of drama and space action. First Man meets Mad Men. Nothing to fault in acting terms, Kinnaman dominates and the girls now getting more prominent roles on the wave of feminism are just fine. The final, post-credits scene inviting you to the upcoming season is great. First rate.

A great alternate history idea with a plethora of possibilities to grasp the concept of space conquest, and it works very well on the whole. Joel Kinnaman is the driving force, but the other actors, admittedly lesser known, are not lost either. Unfortunately, as is sometimes the case, the first season is unsurpassed, it had the best mix of space action, great alternate events of the time, and just enough room for the characters to keep it from being too mawkish, talky, and overly emotional. The second and third seasons no longer have an optimal balance and they slip into space and earth soap-opera that doesn't really go anywhere and just fills in the blanks, and is so over-the-top that it would have even the Armageddon guys rolling their eyeballs. Still, there are many scenes that will take space fans by the heart, and none of the creators need be ashamed of the outcome of the project.
