22 Jump Street

The first movie was absolutely crazy, so the second one is properly insane. For the first fifteen minutes, I was just staring at the two idiots with my mouth wide open and I wasn’t sure whether I’m supposed to laugh or stare like a stuck pig. It was obvious that it was so overdone on purpose and it all pretended to be awfully stylish, which was also complemented by the dance music itself. The story didn’t surprise me because they didn’t come up with anything new. They just swapped high school for college. But one-liners were plentiful; In fact, there were so many that I think that I must have overlooked a ton of cool and clever references to the 1990s in all that colorful fun. I don’t really like Hill or Tatum, but they were really putting on a show here and so I had good fun, I just had to get used to it. (22.06.2015)

Absolute psycho that often goes way over the top, but I enjoyed it more than part 1. The fact that it’s a sequel is capitalized upon and so everything is bigger, more explosive and the humor even crazier. Miller and Lord thrive on knick-knacks, antiracism and also... on male comradery. Awesome final credits. (12.10.2014)

A sequel to a comedy hit that lacks nothing that was typical of its predecessor, but at the same time has almost nothing that is typical of it. The genuinely funny scenes are few and far between, the popular mockery of action clichés is effective, but it's a weak brew compared to the first one, with new villains that are terribly stupid (poor Stormare), and only one of the original characters that retains his standards (the wisecracking Ice Cube). I expected much more from directors with such a record of originality. 60% (11.08.2014)

22 Jump Street scheint seinen zwei Jahre älteren Vorgänger zu kopieren, was an einigen Stellen gelingt, an anderen wiederum weniger erfolgreich ist. Im Grunde ist es eine Abwandlung von "21", der mir immer noch gefallen hat - solange die Filmemacher sich an Action und Humor gehalten haben. Allerdings war das "Herzausschütten" eher lästig und unnötig - die "Bromance-Line" hat in dieser Hinsicht in Nummer eins besser funktioniert. Aber wie gesagt, es hat mir wieder Spaß gemacht (wenn auch etwas weniger) und ich muss die fantasievoll gestalteten Titelszenen loben. Hill und Tatum halten sich größtenteils wacker, auch wenn sie manchmal übertreiben, Ice Cube hätte manchmal ein anderes P*ssy-Gesicht aufsetzen können, Jillian Bell war urkomisch peinlich (oder war es peinlich komisch?), und Rob Riggle ist eine unglaubliche (fast wörtliche) "Type". Eine spielerische, aber gleichzeitig oberflächliche Fortsetzung! (27.03.2021)

Der zweite Film des Filmmarathons von Turnov war auch sehr gut gewählt. Nach den dunklen X-Men musste man die Atmosphäre etwas auflockern, und womit sollte man das sonst tun als mit der Rückkehr des verrückten Paares Tatum-Hill, dem der witzelnde Ice Cube perfekt zuspielt. Im Grunde handelt es sich um dasselbe Schema wie in Teil eins, nur dass man an einigen Stellen etwas mehr ins Extreme geht, und teilweise gelingt das, teilweise nicht. Ein Drogenrausch, wieder einfach zum Platzen, der Abspann waren womöglich die besten, die ich kenne. (12.08.2014)

Just awesome! I thought I would laugh during this movie, but not that much. I had a blast practically non-stop, for which I am immensely grateful to the actors and creators. Exactly the kind of movie a person needs to lift their mood. And those amazing references to everything possible, to the actors themselves, and not a single comeback of the old street character was missing. Thank you, thank you, thank you! (10.07.2014)

A comedy of the year beyond doubt, Tatum & Hill currently being the top of the comedy genre. It's hard to compare this with the first film, but since they managed to make another one with the same theme which isn’t too repetitive while still funny, I give it a thumbs up. There are weaker moments, but not many and I had fun throughout most of the movie. Plus, Ice Cube is totally incredible, and the scene at the table with the bulletproof vest is just perfection. I originally wanted to give it a 4, but for the most awesome end credits I've ever seen, it deserves a full score. Edit: After seeing it for about the fifth time, I have to say that I haven’t seen a better comedy not just this year, but maybe ever in my life. 22 Jump Street would definitely be on my TOP 5 comedies list if I had one. A total blast, full of awesome one-liners and, if you’re a movie buff, each scene is packed with references. It's rare that I laugh so hard I almost start crying. Thank you, Lord & Miller, you have failed to disappoint me yet again. (03.10.2014)
