Helena, a woman in her forties and a recognized expert on marital problems, finds one day that she has got into a situation similar to those she solves with her patients. Her so far loving and beloved husband is caught in flagranti with a younger woman and Helena soon stands helplessly at the door of her new life. Her twenty-year-old daughter Laura wants to be a pillar for her mother but she battles with the traps of her first real love at the same time. Helena´s mother Vilma, a former actress, who applies a distinctive school of life on all situations, offers Helena, to her horror, a helping hand. The eccentric lady has a guaranteed recipe: to replace the disorderly man with an orderly one. It seems to be impossible to solve but there are still men, to Helena´s and Laura´s surprise, with which it is worth diving head first into a love affair. And three quite different women find how much they resemble one another and that if something is to be solved, it requires distance, humor and to lose your head or hope... (Verleiher-Text)

Ein sympathischer, peppiger Entspannungsfilm mit einer gut ausgewogenen Tragikomik. Als Primetime-Ersatz für einen Wochenendausflug, der wegen regnerischem Wetter nicht stattfand, ist der Film ausgezeichnet. Vejdělek und Hoffman wissen, was und für wen sie filmen und sie machen es mit Leichtigkeit und Geschmack.

A huge surprise for me!! Funny and even imaginative. Lenka Vlasáková hit the mark and Eliška Balzerová was pumping out line after line. My only regret is that Macháček didn't get much screen time. Otherwise, a nice, modern Czech comedy:-)

I was quite surprised by how watchable this was; three hungry ladies on the hunt for some fun. A good gag here and there, and some pretty good acting performances. Everything ended up more or less as I expected, but a couple of story twists had me pleasantly surprised. A fine chill-out.

So this is the legendary crude attack on the already low level of Czech cinema? And I'm still wondering where it had been hiding. Eliška Balzerová forgot herself in the theater and Vojtěch Dyk is becoming the new universal bedfellow of Czech cinema. He’s such a wonderful young man and already an actor! Isn't it wonderful, girls? Combined with the unusually awkward Macháček, it's a real treat. It gets a point purely for promoting the antique shop Bělehradská Street.

Ein schwächerer Film von Vejdělek. Im Hinblick auf die tschechischen Verhältnisse gehört er aber trotzdem zum besseren Durchschnitt. Die Regie ist angenehm und manchmal sogar einfallsreich (die Psychologin, die sich selbst therapiert), die Schauspieler*innen spielen gut (bis auf Jiří Macháček, der mir auf die Nerven ging). Die Besetzung von Lenka Vlasáková (sie ist echt hübsch) und Vojtěch Dyk war eine sehr gute Entscheidung – ihre Schauspielleistungen übertraf hier niemand. Nein, auch Eliška Balzerová nicht. Ihre so oft erwähnte Schauspielgenialität besteht nur darin, dass sie Dinge macht und sagt, die niemand erwartet. Das Drehbuch enthält viele billige Witze, was nicht hätte sein müssen.

Ich würde die Leistung von Eliška Balzerová nicht über alle anderen herausstellen, obwohl ich sie mag und sie als Schauspielerin über alle Maßen achte, doch ich meine, dass Lenka Vlasáková und Veronika Kubařová ihre Rollen ebenfalls gemeistert haben. Vojtěch Dyk und Martin Pechlát waren auch für den männlichen Teil keine Schande. Eine erfrischende Komödie, zwei Klassen besser als der Hit vom Vorjahr You Kiss Like a God.

Definitely one of the best comedies of recent times. "Men in Hope" is quite weak compared to it. The humor here is sometimes quite forced, but mostly it works well, mainly thanks to the female performers who were incredibly well chosen. Eliška Balzerová showed what a lady she is and how wonderfully she can act, but even more surprised me Lenka Vlasáková, whom unfortunately I haven't seen in anything decent since then. The film, which I underestimated, strongly and pleasantly surprised me.
