In der Spielfilm-Version der ersten sechs Episoden der gleichnamigen Fernsehserie erzählt "Evangelion: 1.11. - You Are (Not) Alone" von dem 14-jährigen Schüler Shinji, der auf seinem Weg nach Neo Tokyo-3 mitten in einen Kampf des Militärs gegen ein Monster namens "Vierter Engel" hineingerät. The story of a whiny 14-year-old kid who doesn't know what he wants or why he wants it, who gets put in a mecha and wham, go save the world. The boy goes, even though he's never driven a mecha. Why wouldn't he? As long as his papa watches and acknowledges his existence. And shows him love. So we have the existential problems of a 14-year-old and the existential problems of all of humanity intersecting throughout the film. (God knows what else they're crossing there, I can only guess.) I'll admit that it's nicely drawn, but it still didn't grab me. Looks like I won't be a fan of mecha anime... Seen with Czech dubbing.
