Das Forscher-Paar Clive und Elsa leistet bei der Züchtung von Tier-Hybriden Pionierarbeit. Als ihnen der Geldhahn abgedreht wird, arbeiten sie trotzdem heimlich weiter und erschaffen in ihrem Labor eine Kreuzung aus Mensch und Tier. Clive sieht das Kaulquappen-ähnliche Wesen als Fehlschlag, will es töten, doch in Elsa erwachen Mutterinstinkte. So wächst Dren bei ihnen fast wie das Kind einer Familie auf. Doch wird es immer schwieriger sie zu verstecken und als sie geschlechtsreif wird, wird sie zu einer Gefahr für alle. (Universum Film)
