(Verleiher-Text)

Englisch I naively thought that with the passage of time, nostalgia would bring a more sympathetic aura to this film as well, but alas. The plot, which had the makings of a decent "bigger, more expensive, grander" sequel, was ultimately buried by Hopkins' routine direction. Where McTiernan reveled in the massacre of a military unit, Hopkins merely composes the images in a single-minded manner. A whiff of filmmaking invention comes at most in the references to Cameron. Danny Glover did a sharper paraphrase of Roger Murtaugh, and the rest is not worth talking about. I give it three stars for the hunter's arsenal, which I enjoy in a particular cult game. ()

Englisch Fans of ketchup juice, frenzied gunfire, and mindless action will be satisfied and can add any number of stars. In terms of film quality, the sequel to Predator suffers from all the typical ailments of a second installment, namely a lack of originality and creativity, and because the exotic tropical jungle environment is missing, the atmosphere as well... By transitioning to an urban setting, the film has become more similar to other action movies with a crime theme that were being churned out at that time. Only the extraterrestrial creature, or should I say, the whole pack of predators within the logic of sequels, stands out. Glover may have more acting talent, but he did not fit well into the role of a warrior against cosmic invaders. It hardly makes sense to discuss the logic of the script and the quality of the dialogue, but the hidden spaceship in the heart of the city truly touched me... Overall impression: 25%. ()

Englisch A weaker younger brother of the first Predator. I really liked the idea of setting the story in a city, but Roger from Lethal Weapon didn’t seem to me to be the appropriate opponent. Not that I don’t like Danny Glover, but any time the Predator is out of sight (quite a lot in the first half) he gets a bit boring. But things are improved by the long final battle with the FBI and the ensuing chase. There’s one thing I must say, the Predator in part two is a tougher nut than the one in part one. ()

Englisch With the passage of time, it is increasingly evident that the sequel to the famous predecessor is essentially running on fumes. In the first film, the Predator was excellently outlined, but here we don’t learn anything new (and the ending doesn't say much). In addition, there are several technical and narrative mistakes and shortcomings that overall detract from an otherwise decent impression. Some scenes are, of course, impressive (the subway, the slaughterhouse), but otherwise, it is essentially a forced sequel that was mainly meant to attract fans of the monster to the cinemas. Arnie is sorely missed, Danny Glover the necessary charisma. The Predator's weapons are cool, but otherwise, his journey to the city didn't do him much good. ()

Englisch It's not an action blockbuster, but just proper craftsmanship that doesn't put the iconic first one to shame. The urban environment doesn't offer as many possibilities for building a dense atmosphere as the impenetrable jungle, but for a good writer and director it's a great starting point for a simple story, piles of corpses and even more fired cartridges, which was an important part of the first part. And even though it's obvious at first glance that this is a sequel and everything is played to the hilt, director Hopkins does a good job and in an hour and a half serves a decent portion of unpretentious action entertainment, which is underscored by Alan Silvestri's great music and the likeable Danny Glover. It's a pity the chaotic editing and production design, but I guess that's too much to ask... 3.5* ()

Englisch Such a nice retro, which I enjoyed remembering. I really liked this episode mainly because of Danny Glover, whom I have liked a lot since then. Unfortunately, he hasn't appeared in many good movies since then. Fortunately, there are exceptions, and you can count them on the fingers of two hands. This is still great and I still like it after all these years. ()
