Malarkey

This movie is definitively one of the most interesting ones of 2017. The dynamic musical undertone takes turns with a rather alternative method of transferring the script to the film screen. Alternative in the sense that everything in the film is quite raw, sometimes even disgusting. And Robert Pattinson did a great job portraying a character who is drowning in a quagmire of this human depravity. His behavior just makes no sense at all.

It is just a romantic flick about an ordinary boy falling in love with a famous actress. And if you accept the fact that the famous actress is portrayed by Julia Roberts, then it is not bad. I was pleased to see Rhys Ifans, who proves here why I love him so much. His craziness is much better than the whole romantic storyline. But what can you do…

I got excited when I heard the great dubbing job on Bruce Willis and Tom Hanks on TV. Bruce had a very nice drunken scene right in the beginning of the movie which was quite interesting to watch. It was so interesting that I watched the whole movie. But then Tom had an important scene in Bronx and since then it got terribly boring. The beginning of the film was truly great but then it got worse and worse. I have never seen such a butchered movie…

There is nothing better than a visually nice, clever animated film with a story that can be both educational and funny with its historical references.

It was abstract as The Fountain but way more minimalistic. The music creates the tension which is rather distressing and disgusting. On the other hand, you will not understand a single character because of the film’s abstractness and eccentricity. All the actors did a great job but it doesn’t matter because you don’t understand the reason for their emotions. The first half has no logic and the second half is rather brutal. If you forget about the fact that Javier Bardem is actually the only living person in the film, it becomes great. But the director Darren Aronofsky didn’t make it easy for the viewers so you leave the cinema feeling it was one big madness with no logic, which will be confirmed by the final disgusting scenes which did nothing to me at all.

A documentary for everybody who thinks that being a princess is great…

I didn’t know any actors in this movie but I hoped for the good old French comedy which is usually nice and can surprise a viewer a lot. And I got it. The unknown actors created a fabulous comedy for all kinds of people which will become a famous classic one day in my opinion. The creators are making fun of everything and everybody in a very nice way. But at the same time they are telling a nice family story with a very emotional ending. I laughed a lot, I got emotional and in the end I had to admit I hadn’t seen such a great French movie in a very long time. Thumbs up!

I was hoping that Steven Seagal comes back and starts filming solid B movies again. But all he does is walking around wearing sunglasses, with hair dyed black like a raven if it was a human being. He is smart, important and I am amazed somebody is still excited about this. The only nice thing in this movie is Danny Trejo, who fits into this genre and his scene as a Mexican priest made me laugh. He simple can’t get over this type of roles. The film is an average action flick. It is better than Seagal’s other shitty movies but definitely nothing special.

There is only one Cinderella story and that is great. Kenneth Branagh is an extraordinary director though, so he managed to create a great fairy tale without a flaw. The best is the amazing visual part of the film, which is a joy to watch. If I should rate the various Cinderella adaptations, then this would be my first choice right after our Czech Cinderella movie.

I have liked Drew Barrymore since forever, but she was unbearable in this movie. It’s hard to like movies like this.
