Killjoy Goes to Hell (2012)

Englisch The American movie Killjoy Goes to Hell demonstrates that sometimes some movie franchises are not justified because the sequels are milking an idea exhausted in the first movie. In addition, although this creepy clown had some potential, it was used up in the first movie in 2000, so I do not see why it deserved a sequel or why the character appeared in other movies. To add insult to injury, Killjoy Goes to Hell is not even the last movie in the franchise. SMH.

Butterfly Room – Vom Bösen besessen (2012)

Englisch The Italian-American movie The Butterfly Room is first and foremost aimed at the enthusiasts of horror movies from the 1960s to the late 1980s. It works as a movie because you can tell the cast love acting in horror movies, and Barbara Steele is absolutely incredible at seventy-five. The Butterfly Room is right up my street, so I could not care that this is an otherwise straightforward horror movie about a bad lady.

Zone Blanche - Season 1 (2017) (Staffel)

Englisch In the first season of Black Spot, we get to know the characters very quickly and we also get to know that the crimes that happen here are not pleasant. Parents lose their children and there are victims who are suffering, it almost seems like there might be something more than just human evil going on and that is the beauty of Black Spot. You do not need to look any further than that. People do not need much more than evil to be entertained.

Shed of the Dead (2019)

Englisch The British movie Shed of the Dead is a classic zombie comedy because when producers want to spice things up a bit, they tend to throw in some comic relief, and indeed why not? Nerds do not have that much chance of survival, at least not in the face of the undead, so if they somehow succeed, it can be quite amusing.

Blood Suckers from Outer Space (1984)

Englisch The American movie Blood Suckers from Outer Space is an example of a strangely humorous redneck horror movie. I like that it is unexpectedly quite gory in places and is quite entertaining as a result. There is some black humor, although, at other times, the jokes can be rather embarrassing. The movie’s producers just went for it, and they knew that only a small cult audience will enjoy it. They were right.

Playing with Dolls: Havoc (2017)

Englisch The American movie Playing with Dolls: Havoc is the third installment in the franchise, although it does not change the fact that Rene Perez is not very good at making horror movies. I only enjoyed one of his movies, Death Kiss. I enjoyed it mostly because it worked well as an homage to the Bronson movies it referenced. Playing with Dolls: Havoc is an example of how Rene Perez is very bad at writing horror movies.

Creep Van - Terror auf vier Rädern (2012)

Englisch At first glance, Creep Van seems to be a really low-budget American movie, and some of the acting is really annoying, so much so that you are happy with the character dying a nasty death. It gets repetitive because there are way too many deaths, so much that it is almost absurd, although it is very imaginative here and there. Otherwise, the movie would have been a complete waste of time.

Luz (2018)

Englisch The German movie Luz is an example of an art-horror movie. Sure, it has a certain atmosphere, although that is not because of the horror element but rather how strangely the movie was shot. I can imagine this being shown in art house cinemas to a cult audience. As a horror fan, though, I did not find it particularly exciting and it was just a sort of experimental movie.

Ready or Not? - Auf die Plätze, Fertig, Tot (2019)

Englisch The American-Canadian movie Ready or Not is a horror made for a wider audience. Basically, some scenes are pretty gory, and there is plenty of blood, although the whole thing is filmed well. An entertaining movie that is also witty and chilling is a great thing. If you can get over some of the weird character motivations in this movie, you should find the conclusion quite entertaining and have a good laugh because, well, let us just say the producers may have been a bit afraid of showing kids dying on screen.

Blind Date (1984)

Englisch The British-Greek movie Blind Date is a nice example of non-Italian Giallo. Unsurprisingly, it works very well, and it makes sense because there is suspense, and it manages to keep your attention until the end. Sure, the movie is not really surprising, the murders are not so brilliantly executed, but it more than makes up for both with purposeful nudity, where there is not much to fault. Overall, I would say that this movie is quite a decent watch.
