Biografie

Vienna, 1890-Beverly Hills, 1976. He began as a screenwriter and directed his first film in 1919. After shooting milestones of the "7th Art" like Doctor Mabuse: The Gambler (1922), Metropolis (1927) and M (1931), he immigrated to the United States and built a reputation for himself in film noir. The Shadow vs the Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960), directed after his return to Germany, was his last movie.
