I treated myself to another throwback to the 90s when such films were all the rage (at least for me). Unlike Total Recall, Wedlock is a typical B-movie that doesn't require the viewer to think. The only bigger surprise for me was the very decent cast. The story was quite transparent. However, I must admit that I didn't remember how little action there was in this action movie. Surprisingly, I don't mean it as a criticism. It allowed for some sophisticated humor, which I enjoy. If I wanted to criticize, I would point out that the creators didn't bother with logic; they openly ignored it, which led to sometimes bizarre situations, but who cares? As I said, it was a typical relaxed B-movie, and whoever expected a higher artistic value only has themselves to blame. This film may be pretty old, but I wasn't bored watching it, so I think the three stars are well-deserved. / Lesson learned: Printed newspapers and magazines are giving way to their online versions, and as this movie proves, it may not always be a good thing. Sexual activity on a pile of laptops or tablets might be unpleasant and uncomfortable. ()
An absolutely mediocre action flick that doesn't impress in any way, but neither does it offend, and it's tolerable for one viewing. In addition, Rutger Hauer has quite a bit of charisma and as the main character is probably the biggest asset of the film. On the other hand, the biggest mess was certainly made by the script about the seemingly impossible escape from a super-security prison, which flows without any significant ideas (the head explosion is certainly spectacular, but everyone expects it in advance) and mainly without a hint of suspense. At least it has quite some pace, which prevents the viewer from getting bored. Unfortunately, Wedlock will always remain a one-off affair with untapped potential that will soon disappear from my memory. ()
