Um ein Schnurrhaar

Animationstechnisch ist es ein sehr schöner Film, die Story Idee mit diesen Masken ist recht interessant, aber... In Wahrheit habe ich zwei ziemlich große Probleme damit - die Hauptfigur hat mich nicht wirklich angesprochen und emotional hat es mein Herz einfach nicht getroffen. Ich hatte die ganze Zeit so ein komisches Gefühl von der romantischen Linie, oder besser gesagt, es wurde war mehr oder weniger egal, und das ist definitiv ein Problem beim romantischen Film. Es hat mich nicht berührt, es hat fast keine emotionale Reaktion in mir hervorgerufen... Ich konnte die Protagonistin nicht anfeuern, es gab Zeiten, in denen ich dachte, dass dieses pubertäre Verhalten oder die Unerbittlichkeit, mit der sie den Protagonisten verfolgte, nicht mein Ding sind... Die Story war nicht schlecht, manches war originell und gelungen, wie zum Beispiel die "Stadt der Katzen". Sehr gelungen war auch die Musik, die ich während des Films genossen habe. Es ist ein interessanter Film, aber er passte nicht so wirklich... 6/10 (20.06.2020)

A Whisker Away mostly drowns in its own mediocrity. A generally cute film with a fairly novel idea about the double life of the main character, it never hits the target despite all the darts it throws. A good idea, but with a rigidly predictable twist. The heroine is endearingly active and proactive, but also incomprehensibly a headcase, short-tempered and overly intrusive (I don't understand how she's calm and empathetic in one position, which obviously suits the boy, and then doesn't even remotely replicate those insights in the other position). The boy is soooo boring and unremarkable. The ending is neither epic nor moving even a couple of times despite attempts to copy familiar elements of Ghibli worlds. The drawing is decent, the only music is pleasantly composed. Unfortunately, for all its uniqueness, it's a film that's easily forgotten. The dart landed no higher than a sadly deserved 3 stars.
