Familie Griswold will für zwei Wochen Urlaub im Vergnügungspark Walley World machen. Vater Clark hat die Route dorthin präzise ausgetüftelt - eigentlich kann gar nichts mehr schief gehen! Doch statt eines schicken Flitzers dreht ihm der Autoverleiher eine alte Familienkutsche an, die dummerweise mitten in der Wüste ihren Geist aufgibt. Als die klapprige Kiste die geplagte Familie endlich vor die Tore des Vergnügungsparks gebracht hat, wartet dort die nächste Hiobsbotschaft. (ATV2)

Chevy Chase really doesn't suit me and at times I probably said, for God's sake, shut up already. But similar to this year's remake/sequel, I thought that there are simply scenes that are incredibly fun. There aren't many of them and a lot of them are really awkward, but I still enjoyed myself at times.

Decent entertainment that relies on a likeable cast and serves a really large number of gags in a small space, but it doesn't surprise with anything in terms of story and, despite the crazy nature of most of the twists and turns, we remember very little of it after a while. If I have to reach for the Griswolds, Christmas Vacation will always be a more welcome alternative…

Much of the humour is too simple in an American way, but there are some good scenes. I used to like Vacation a lot more, but I can’t say why. Christmas Vacation is still unsurpassed.
