Der erste Schnee fällt im Tal und die Insekten müssen dringend Vorräte für den Winter sammeln. Ein junger Marienkäfer wird dabei in einem Karton gefangen und gerät nach einer abenteuerlichen Reise in die warme Karibik. Um den Sohn zu retten, bricht auch der Käfer-Papa gemeinsam mit einem Notfallteam nach Guadeloupe auf. Vor Ort haben jedoch auch andere Krabbeltiere eine Rettung dringend nötig: eine menschliche Baustelle bedroht die Natur… (polyfilm)

Compared to the previous film, this one seemed somehow emptier and at the same time unnecessarily complicated with various subplots, but despite the multiple Pixar rip-offs, it was still beautiful with many disarming moments.

It noticeably lacks the directness, playfulness and scale of the first film, as well as the grotesqueness and development of one idea of the bedtime story template. There is hardly half as much as last time, and even the grotesque escapades are somewhat subdued. Compared to the first film and the series, it is more focused on smaller children, but at the same time it is much more edgy, which means that it does not avoid occasional passages when the little ones will freak out. None of this means, however, that it isn't still tacky cute fun, but you have to accept that it stands in the shadow of its predecessors.
