Die junge Christine entdeckt in einer New Yorker Bibliothek ein seltenes Musikstück. Sie ahnt nicht, daß sie damit den Geist des Komponisten, des berüchtigten “Phantoms der Oper” beschwört. Das gräßliche, unmenschliche Geschöpf materialisiert sich und nimmt sie mit in seine Zeit – fast 100 Jahre in die Vergangenheit. Das Phantom verliebt sich in die bildhübsche Christine und verspricht, sie zu einem gefeierten Star zu machen. Als sie seine Liebe nicht erwiedert schleppt er sie brutal in sein Reich, in die gigantischen Katakomben, tief unter dem Operngebäude. Dort, in den Gewölben, zwischen Kulissen, Geheimgängen und Falltüren strebt Christines Alptraum ihrem Höhepunkt entgegen. (Verleiher-Text)
