Was passiert, wenn sich die große Liebe als größter Fehler herausstellt? Jackie (Hannah Emily Anderson) und ihre Frau Jules (Brittany Allen) wollen ihren ersten Hochzeitstag ganz romantisch in einem Haus tief in den einsamen Wäldern verbringen. Kaum dort angekommen wirkt Jackie wie ausgewechselt. Ein düsteres, lange verschwiegenes Geheimnis tritt zutage. Aus der Idylle wird schließlich der pure Alptraum, als Jackie plötzlich und ohne ersichtlichen Grund Jules in eine tiefe Schlucht stürzt und die totgeglaubte Partnerin einfach liegen lässt. Doch Jules lebt noch und findet sich in einem erbitterten Kampf mit der Liebe ihres Lebens wieder. (Tiberius Film)

Ein gewöhnliches, in keinerlei Hinsicht originelles Spiel auf eine psychopathische Katze und eine überraschte Maus im Wald am See. Der Film ist auch dumm – das Verhalten der Figuren ist unwahrscheinlich, die Arbeit mit den Zuschauer*innen ist nicht gelungen, es wird ihr Intellekt unterschätzt. Bei manchen ernsten Szenen lachte der volle Saal. [Sitges FF]

Two lesbians go to celebrate their one-year marriage anniversary at a cabin in the middle of nowhere, but one of them soon starts to have a serious breakdown, the sins of the past slowly come to light and the wife is now in danger of her life as her partner gets a psychotic break and goes over dead bodies. A fairly brisk survival thriller that, while not exactly groundbreaking, doesn't offend at all. I liked the music, the suspense works well at times, and the finale is pretty much fine, so a digestible affair. 60%

I didn't have high hopes for the Canadian film What Keeps You Alive, but it managed to impress me from the very beginning with its environment, which is beautiful and nice to look at. Into this environment enters the story of two characters, and there aren’t many more that are needed for the entire film, whose idyll turns into the worst moments of their lives. From a horror point of view, it's nice that the evil doesn't come from the outside.
