Filmchallenge in Quarantäne - Lieblingsschauspielerinnen, Mélanie Laurent. Es handelt sich vor allem um den mitreißenden und verzweifelten Kampf gegen die Zeit des Guillaume Canet. Mélanie Laurent sekundiert ihm jedoch in einer Nebenrolle prima. Alle Eltern müssen das Handeln von Guillaumes Figur verstehen und ich glaube, dass sie ebenso gehandelt hätten. Wenn es sich um ein verlorenes Kind handelt, dann kann man auf nichts anderes blicken als Rettung. Ein Thriller mit einem guten Tempo und nicht ganz so lang, das letzte Drittel hinkt etwas, doch der Gesamteindruck ist positiv. (15.10.2020)

I have to admit, at times I was almost breathless with tension as the main character frantically searched for his son. Worse, I couldn't identify with his persistence and escalating aggression during the search for him. It's a shame that the reason for the abduction wasn't explained; it made the whole thing seem like the writers didn't know where they were going with it. And the almost happy ending didn't impress me either. (60%) (13.06.2020)

My Son is unintentionally funny trash with dubious morals masquerading as a psychological drama. Characters on the verge of a nervous breakdown are shown only through crying, screaming or wanting to kill someone. When you need some sort of information, use brutal violence. When you want to get a loved one (or two) back, kill a few people. Any instalment of the Taken series is more entertaining and more honest. The second star was added for the one (final) scene in which Mélanie Laurent is not hysterical and for Canet maniacally screaming “’I’m going to bake your leg!” 35% (23.11.2017)
