“A family dinner or a funeral… better the funeral, there would at least be one idiot less.” A remarkable Icelandic comedy that fascinated me mainly by how often it managed to surprise me, although after a few minutes I thought that it could no longer do it, that I was ready for everything ... Gesehen bei der Challenge Tour 2015: 30 Tage mit internationaler Kinematografie. Film Nummer 3 - Island. Die erste Enttäuschung im Laufe der Tour stellte sich relativ schnell ein. Ein abgefahrener Film mit einem unsympathischen Protagonisten, der in seinem Leben herumtappt, vor allen in Liebesdingen. Ich habe mich ziemlich gelangweilt, ich kann mich nur an zwei witzige Sprüche erinnern. Wenigstens ist Victoria Abril hübsch anzuschauen. Kormákur spricht mich eher mit seinen Krimis und Actionfilmen an, aber ich sehe es so, dass jeder einmal beginnen muss, und als Debüt ist das wiederum kein solch ausgesprochener Durchfaller. I found Hlynur, the main "hero," so extremely unlikable that I started wishing his face would get hit by a shovel real hard about seven minutes into the film. The story had a touch of drama, and every now and then I detected a hint of black humor, but there just wasn’t enough of it to have any effect on my rating. In fact, the film slightly bored me most of the time and allowed my thoughts to wander. And I don’t want that to happen, as they might not all come back to me. When a film can’t get my full attention or loses it in the process, it's not a good sign. It means that I'm either not the target audience or that it's just not any good. Either way, I didn't have much fun today. / Lesson learned: Alcoholics Anonymous sure have it tough in Iceland. (24.09.2022)
