In 1965, a not-so-well known Czech director Pavel Hobl shot this not-so-well known - but the more interesting - "tractate on the qualities of man", as he himself calls it in the opening credits. From the point of view of utilizing wide-screen format, it represents a relatively standard film of its time; but from the point of view of narrative construction and the use of genre conventions it is one of the most remarkable films of the 1960s.
