The Crown - Série 2

The second season confirms the fact that the success of the first was not an accident. It masterfully continues the polished combination of historical accuracy, period flamboyance and a little healthy improvisation here and there. This unique concoction for success is complemented once again by fabulous actors in practically all leading and supporting roles. At the same time, the creators managed not to miss the mark in their attempt to make the second season bigger, grander, or perhaps more mainstream. The recipe from the first episode works with very similar ingredients, it operates with what tastes good and tries to eliminate as much as possible what doesn't taste good and it succeeds almost completely. I have to admit that I was expecting a drop in quality compared to Season 1, but I was wrong. The creators did make some changes by focusing more on interpersonal relationships this time around but it was done in a way that deserves nothing but praise. Which is not to say that I'm not interested in British politics. I'm very pleased so far and I'm looking forward to Season 3. (28.03.2018)

Staffel 2 geht voll in den Fußstapfen der ersten, zumindest was das überlegene Setting und die Drehbucharbeit angeht. Doch der Ort, an dem einst Winston Churchill amtierte und die Königsfamilie teilweise in den Schatten stellte, steht heute leer. Glücklicherweise löst Morgan die Abwesenheit einer großen Person auf eigene Weise, indem er die Serie mehr oder weniger in Folgen zerteilt und gleichzeitig die Ehe des Königspaares gekonnt mit Nebengeschichten detailliert. Und man lernt echt viel. Über Charles, Nazis, trendige Frisuren... Sucht euch was aus. Das Angebot ist vielfältig und ausnahmslos ausgezeichnet. (13.07.2018)
