Dorf der verlorenen Jugend

Die erste Hälfte ist unbefriedigend, die zweite wiederum ausgesprochen qualvoll und beleidigend. Unglaublich amateurhafte Regie, ein unsinniges Drehbuch, ein Festival des Schreiens sowie der Hysterie. Das ist ja in der Tat nicht einmal ein Film, denn es handelt sich um zufällig zusammengefügte formale Mimikry. Ich würde mich gar nicht darüber wundern, wenn die Anzahl der Selbstmorde in Bridgend nach der Filmpremiere wieder steigen würde. Ich selbst wollte mich die letzten 20 Minuten lang erhängen. #kviff (06.07.2015)

Such a film, which has an interesting story based on real events, but it tries so hard to get into festivals that it's not interesting at all for the audience. Meanwhile, it tells the story of how in Denmark, in a relatively short period of time (about 6 years), in just one region, there was a high number of suicides among young people. The description and synopsis really enticed me to watch what they promised was a good Nordic drama flick. However, already as I was watching the film, I felt as if some Danish guy had felt like making a proper and depressing Scandinavian drama but had forgotten to include in it everything that makes these movies so unique. I didn’t like the fact that they were speaking English, the nonsensical bits in the screenplay were striking and the only thing that tended to have any kind of value was the cinematography. (50th KVIFF) A true festival hell! And I was looking forward to this film. I believe I’m open enough to mysterious movies with ambiguous outcomes, but here there’s nothing. Just an incredibly annoying leading character who deserves to be slapped, but instead, her father apologises for daring to raise his voice to her. The suicide epidemic didn’t cause any interest or curiosity, even though it’s a topic that on paper drew my attention. This film was almost a religious experience – by the end I was praying for it to finish already. 20 % (11.07.2015)
