Hollywood, in den 30er Jahren. Der junge New Yorker Bobby Dorfman versucht in der Traumfabrik sein Glück. Als Laufbursche seines Onkels Phil, der eine einflussreiche Casting-Agentur führt, bekommt er unvermittelt Einblicke in das Geschäft mit Glanz und Glamour. Hals über Kopf verliebt er sich in Phils Sekretärin Vonnie. Allerdings ist diese mit seinem Onkel liiert. Mit gebrochenem Herz verlässt Bobby L.A. und kehrt zurück in die Bronx. Dort eröffnet er mit seinem Bruder einen Nachtklub und startet mit Veronica in ein neues Leben. (ORF)
