When four children pass through a special wardrobe closet, they discover the kingdom of Narnia, a land of talking animals and mythical creatures. But an evil witch's spell has cast Narnia into eternal winter. Fearing that an ancient prophecy has come true, and that the children are Narnia's chosen rulers, the witch tricks the youngest brother into betraying his family. Now, only Aslan, noble lion and King of the Woods, can help them defeat the witch , restore springtime to Narnia, and claim their rightful places on the throne. (Verleiher-Text)

Die zweitälteste Version The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ist ein Zeichentrickfilm (dem eine Serie von 1967 vorausging, von der nur zwei Episoden erhalten sind). Die Adaption ist recht eigenartig, zum Beispiel verteilt Aslan selbst die Geschenke und Lucy ist blond. Kinder denken im Allgemeinen nicht daran, dass es die 40er Jahre sind, aber wir sind in der Gegenwart, in den 70ern. Wie dem auch sei, Jadis kann auch in diesen Umrissen furchterregend sein, so dass dieses Projekt insgesamt als ein seltener Teil der Narnia-Sammlung akzeptiert werden kann. In der Serie aus den Jahren 1988-1990 ging es wieder um etwas anderes, und die moderne Staffel hat nur drei Episoden bekommen.
