Dumbo

Wenn Dumbo, der fliegende Elefant etwas länger gewesen wäre und wenn das ganze Fliegen in der Schlussmontage mehr Raum bekommen hätte, hätte ich dem Film ohne zu zögern vier Sterne gegeben. So sind es dreieinhalb zufriedene Sterne. Ich gebe sie vor allem für die tolle Szene mit den tanzenden Elefanten, für die exzellenten Krähen, für den parodistisch-dramatischen Beginn des Liedes über Störche und für das sensationelle Duo der kleine stumme Elefant und eine noch kleinere, gesprächige und verdammt sympathische Maus. Eine der schlimmsten Sachen (auch für Disney-Verhältnisse) ist die unglaublich infantile lebende Lok, brr. (18.06.2015)

Let's be honest, the story is quite schematic, but the individual scenes are excellently developed, especially the alcohol sequence is incredibly imaginative, and it was during that scene that I realized it wasn't the first time I had seen the film. The emotions are greatly intensified, as expected from Disney, but at the same time, the characters are well-written, elevating the classic story. Regardless of Walt Disney studio's politics, it simply has fairy tales that are worth it. And this is one of them. Moreover, the way the elephants behave is quite powerful for an animated Disney fairy tale. (26.12.2013)

It must be 15 or 20 years seen I last saw Dumbo, and it’s still great, I love it. The little flying elephant is one of my favourite Disney films. (27.07.2011)

Weak. While I love the Disney classics and tolerate their orientation towards a child audience, Dumbo disappointed me both from the perspective of the child who tried hard to hold on to it and from the perspective of the more mature movie fan for whom cute characters, cheerful songs and a basic story just aren't enough to make them happy.
