Nutzerkritik Necrotongue zur diesen Serie (74)

Der Landweg (2016) (S04E08)

Englisch In the eighth episode, I gave it four stars, but it was just barely. The greatest merits of my rating were the events in Paris and on the Seine, I also enjoyed the victorious return of King Egbert, but then I was pleased only by the fact that the Chinese drug dealer finally disappeared. The events in Kattegat were again a pure disaster, the only thing I took from them was the realization that Harbard is not Rasputin, but rather Guru Jára. 4* ()

Mit Axt und Schwert (2016) (S04E09)

Englisch Okay, the creators really managed to push me to give the lowest rating so far. The ninth episode was really pointless. The whole time there were dragged-out scenes, the robbery scene was apparently only for diversity, I couldn't find any other meaning in it, but there were much more of these artificially drawn-out plotlines in this episode. Overall, it was boring. ()

Der alte König (2016) (S04E10)

Englisch It was a shock, after the disappointing ninth episode, a fulfilling episode followed, which I enjoyed from beginning to end. The action scenes on the river were clearly successful, and I will pretend that I didn't notice the complete nonsense of the platforms that Ragnar's fleet was pushing in front of them, which obviously had no other meaning than to have a place to film a battle between a man and a woman. The Emperor's garottes pleased me, and surprisingly, I didn't mind the significant time jump. ()

Der verfluchte Tag (2016) (S04E11)

Englisch No, I thought about what the eleventh episode was actually about for quite a while. I would say that it was largely about nothing, only relationships were being resolved like in any other series, so I was only interested in the dark prophecy and unexpectedly also the character of Ivar, who seemed the most interesting to me out of everyone involved this time. ()

Sturm des Unheils (2016) (S04E12)

Englisch And it's here again. What was it about? Except for Bjorn and consortes sailing to Normandy and possibly further, and Ragnar and Ivar going to England, the story was terribly empty. It is clear that a double number of episodes per season is too much for the creators, instead of a quality story, we get some filler just to have something filmed. ()

Fremde Küsten (2016) (S04E13)

Englisch After all, I could add the fourth star again, surprisingly both expeditions did not contribute to it, especially Ragnar's felt like some mockery, all the positives this time went behind the events in Kattegat and Hedeby, where something interesting finally began to happen. ()

Wie Ein Tier Im Käfig (2016) (S04E14)

Englisch Lagertha and the events in Kattegat quickly earned four stars from me, and I definitively had to add the fifth one for the great dialogue between Ragnar and Egbert. The King of Wessex has been among my favorite characters for a long time, I've missed his intrigues. ()

Die Schlangengrube (2016) (S04E15)

Englisch I didn't even expect that I would be able to direct two episodes in a row in the fourth season, but it happened. Besides the most important event, there were also interesting dialogues and preparations for the final grand plan from Ragnar's side. So yes, this episode was worth it. ()

Am Mittelmeer (2017) (S04E16)

Englisch I really don't understand why, if the creators are capable of creating episodes of such high quality within the fourth season, they hid it so perfectly. The last three episodes were very decent and I can't wrap my head around how it's possible that a part of the series was so uninteresting and even boring. I hope that the series will continue with the same level of quality. ()

Böses Blut (2017) (S04E17)

Englisch With each episode, I am increasingly surprised. The events in Kattegat were mostly boring in the fourth season, but now it is once again becoming the center of the most interesting events. Ivar is slowly but surely becoming an extremely interesting character, and I assume that he will be the focus of the next episodes. ()

Schrei nach Rache (2017) (S04E18)

Englisch The plot of the eighteenth episode was sufficiently interesting for me to be ready to give it five stars, but then came a deceitful blow from the creators and, like many other users, I deducted points from my rating because I was shamelessly cheated out of a battle. The execution of the king did slightly improve my mood, but still... ()

Katz und Maus (2017) (S04E19)

Englisch After some time, Lagertha got more space again, which pleased me, as her fan, a lot. At the same time, the scene with Egil's interrogation could serve as a theme for summer grilling :-) The hide-and-seek game at the end was entertaining, and it's clear what awaits the viewer in the final episode. I'm looking forward to it. ()

Die letzte Reise (2017) (S04E20)

Englisch That was a slap again. And I was looking forward to the brickworks so much... The battle, towards which everything was clearly heading, was a strangely dull affair, and the most interesting thing about it was the speed and endurance of the Vikings. I have no idea why Bjorn fought a bear in the third episode when he could have ruthlessly attacked it. The strongest moment was definitely provided by Ivar, I was disappointed by Egbert's ending, and I didn't understand Heahmund. ()

Season 5 (2017) (S05)

Englisch Season 5 isn't even a shadow of what the Vikings used to be. Twenty episodes per season are obviously a number that is far beyond Michael Hirst’s capabilities. He has repeatedly resorted to artificially and unnecessarily stretching out the story. A prime example of that is Floki's Icelandic adventure, which only brought tedium to the series and a plot that dragged on like a slug doused with honey. The Conquest of Kattegat in the final episode only proved how the creators' abilities to bring a real battle to the screen have diminished. Those who remember The Last Ship episode will certainly agree with me. A huge disappointment. 3*- ()

York (2017) (S05E01)

Englisch The first episode of the fifth season was rich in funerals (up to 2) and farewells (up to 4), but apart from that, there was also enough space for the demonic, sneaky Ivar, who I sympathize with because I could match his speed, and thanks to Harald, I expect Lagertha to get involved as well. I was satisfied with the action, but I didn't really like the character of Bishop Heahmund, I probably won't get used to him. ()

Land der Götter (2017) (S05E02)

Englisch Oh no, I got screwed over by the creators again... I was watching the second episode in complete confusion (translation: like an idiot), the most understandable part of the plot was Floki's aimless journey, but it was still annoying, I didn't really grasp what was happening in Kattegat. If Lagertha slept with Harald just for fun, fine, but if there was supposed to be a deeper meaning, it went over my head. Harald escapes from Kattegat, surely it was dramatic and could have messed with my nervous system, so the creators spared me from those shots, for which I appreciate them with two whole stars. ()

Frieden ist ein schmutziges Wort (2017) (S05E03)

Englisch Well, I just don't enjoy myself with the Vikings as much as I used to. The fight for York initially seemed very promising, the traps were pleasing, but then came Ivar's solo, unnecessarily dramatic scenes where Alfred was put in "life-threatening" situations, annoying bishop Heahmund and Floki's pus-filled journey, so yeah. ()

Unsichtbare Fesseln (2017) (S05E04)

Englisch In the fourth episode, I was more pleased with the events in Norway, where new intrigues began to emerge in Kattegat and Vestfold over time. Bjorn's storyline didn't interest me at all, and I'm not sure if the gradual expansion of the plot across Europe and possibly beyond is beneficial. ()

Die lange Überfahrt (2017) (S05E05)

Englisch I was completely baffled by the development of the story again. How did Floki, the one-eared goat, make it from Iceland to Kattegat without any problems? Oh, I know, it's the gods. I've never claimed to be a great war tactician or strategist, but I definitely wouldn't come up with something as stupid as Ivar. I wonder if any renowned mathematician could calculate how many Vikings can squeeze through a narrow opening before someone simply cuts off every protruding head? Pathetic. ()

Zwei Monde Zeit (2017) (S05E06)

Englisch The sixth episode was full of unpleasant surprises. It started with a local sandstorm, by local I mean limited to a single desert, so the whole area is bathing in sunlight. Floki is allowed to establish a religious community in Iceland, which makes me ecstatic, but Astrid topped it all off by randomly choosing a messenger from the enemy camp to deliver a message to Lagertha, and he subsequently completes the assigned task, which was a brilliant move. Just in time, Bjorn reappears... When I think about how the Vikings started, I feel sad. ()
