Die Boovs machen die Erde zu ihrem neuen Heimatplaneten und beginnen damit, alles neu zu organisieren. Die Menschen werden unfreiwillig umgesiedelt. Als jedoch Tip, ein cleveres junges Mädchen, der Gefangenschaft entgeht, wird sie auf einmal zur unfreiwilligen Komplizin von Oh (gesprochen von Bastian Pastewka), einem verstoßenen Boov auf der Flucht. Schon bald erkennen die beiden ungleichen Freunde, dass es um viel mehr geht, als nur intergalaktische Beziehungen zu retten. Und so begeben sie sich auf eine fantastische Reise voll Spaß und Abenteuer, die ihr Leben und ihre Welt für immer verändern wird. (Fox Deutschland)

A thoroughly average animated film intended primarily for children. Adult viewers will not enjoy it much, except for a rather imaginative scene with the Eiffel Tower and Steve Martin's voice. And those annoying songs!!

Beautiful job! The charming characters are a joy to watch and it's not hard to fall deeply in love with them despite the very childish humour, through which the hilarious adult jokes only dimly shine through. The story of a peaceful invasion and escape from a formidable enemy, which entertains with its simplicity and directness, is very effective, and so is the endearing nature of the alien race Boov, whose scared and stupid leader is simply hilarious. But what pushes the film above the average of its genre is, ironically, its most famous motif of the representatives of two completely different races befriending each other – the leading duo is charming, they complement each other well and go through an imaginative development crowned with the touching and beautifully positive finale that everyone wants to see so badly. I also enjoyed the hilarious incorporation of modern songs and the originally packaged moral message… Great fun :) 80%

Ich bin auf diesen Film durch den Kurzfilm Almost Home aufmerksam geworden, der, wenn auch in einer mittelmäßigen Verpackung, einen Vorgeschmack auf einen Animationsfilm gab, den man vielleicht sehen möchte. Was mir an Home - Ein smektakulärer Trip am besten gefiel, waren das recht fantasievolle Thema und der anständige Soundtrack, der viel Schwung hatte. Andererseits habe ich einige lustige Szenen im Film verpasst, weil ich nicht ein einziges Mal aus vollem Herzen gelacht habe, sondern einfach nur gelächelt habe (vor allem dank der Katze). Außerdem hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die Filmemacher am Ende etwas mehr auf Emotionen setzten, was mir unausgewogen erschien, da der erste Teil nicht sehr humorvoll war. Ein Pluspunkt vielleicht für die recht überraschende Wendung ganz am Ende (mit Gorgy). Kurzum, ein durchschnittlicher Animationsfilm, der weder beleidigt noch erstaunt und für einen freien Nachmittag geeignet ist.

It is not an exceptional animated film, but I got exactly what I imagined from it. It is a sufficiently entertaining movie that also has a quite interesting plot, which I found to be original even compared to other space-themed animated films, of which there have been quite a few lately. Jim Parsons is excellent in voicing, as well as Rihanna. I enjoyed it, I was moved, everything was in its place.
