Murder Mystery

Eine weitere, sehr aufgelockerte und leicht närrische Variation auf Detektivgeschichten von Agatha Christie. Als ich die Filmografie meines Lieblingskomikers Adam Sandler durchging, stellte ich fest und merkte, dass ich mehrere Jahre keinen ordentlichen "Sandler-Film“ gesehen hatte. Murder Mystery fällt zwar nicht in diese Kategorie, doch es handelt sich um einen wenig anspruchsvollen Film zum Ausspannen, der Sie in der Quarantäne zumindest für eine Weile einen Hauch von Malaga und Monte Carlo vermittelt... Und Gemma Arterton ist wiederum verdammt sexy... (29.03.2020)

Obwohl weder Sandler noch Aniston zu den Schauspielern gehören, die ich gerne sehe, wurde ich durch das Genre der Kriminalkomödie in den Film gelockt. In Bezug auf den Humor, aber auch auf die Krimihandlung hatte Murder Mystery sichtbare Reserven (vergleicht man ihn mit dem ebenso alten Knives Out - Mord ist Familiensache), dennoch hat mich der Film nicht gelangweilt - er hat eine optimale Laufzeit, anständige Spannung und hier und da einen lustigen Moment. Schade, dass Terence Stamp nicht mehr Platz bekommen hat - aber ich verstehe, dass dies den Bedürfnissen des Genres geschuldet war. Letztendlich hatte ich nichts gegen Sandler oder Aniston, auch wenn sie fast keine Chemie zwischen sich hatten. Allerdings darf der Zuschauer den Film nicht zu ernst nehmen - er nimmt sich selbst auch nicht so ernst. (16.05.2023)

A crime movie perfect for all hairdressers, for whom the great Jennifer rules. Sandler’s variation on Agatha Christie, spiced up with a whole lot of priceless one-liners, rolls by pleasantly. Thanks to the excellent dubbing, the babbling Sandler seems like a typical Czech holidaymaker with a bad back focused only on food and sex. Super funny exchanges of opinion between husband and wife after years of married life, the beautiful Gemma Arterton and an energetic car chase at the end...I enjoyed it more than I am willing to admit. "There are bars on planes?! Damn! Shame my mum didn’t live to see it. She was an alcoholic!" (25.04.2020)

If Adam Sandler didn’t play such a grouch in this movie, which doesn’t fit him at all, I might even say that it is a standard chill out Sandler-type of a movie where Adam behaves normally and is not a moron. Apart from this, I liked how the creators were able to make a comedy with a criminal plot in Agatha Christie style. Also it has more action and is more thrilling than average Sandler movies. Fortunately, in spite of the long-faced Adam, other actors are able to make great jokes and Jennifer Aniston looks ravishing as usual. So the result is good. (16.09.2019)

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler is a great duo where you can trust their chemistry. Although it's not the typical comedy I would expect from these two, it is a very entertaining Agatha Christie parody. The humour works a few times, but the murders are much more entertaining and especially the final twist with the reveal of the killer, whom I didn't guess and that's where the film scores points.
