James Bond - Der Spion, der mich liebte

Ich mochte Roger Moores Bond nie besonders, bis heute wirkt er auf mich wie ein geckenhafter alter Mann (das sieht man gut an den Kämpfen, die bei Connerys Darstellung unendlich viel lebhafter waren), andererseits habe ich seine Einsicht und seinen ausgezeichneten Sinn für Selbstironie immer geschätzt. Und den Film Der Spion, der mich liebte habe ich als Kind wirklich geliebt, und mit ein bisschen Nostalgie gefällt er mir auch heute noch. Das Drehbuch ist wirklich gut, Beißer ist echt gruselig, Barbara Bach ist umwerfend, und die Actionsequenzen haben Pepp und Witz (besonders die mit dem Auto-U-Boot). Dieser Bond-Film hat alles, was ich an Agent 007 liebe - eine fesselnde Geschichte, Machtkämpfe, einen verdrehten Bösewicht, Einsicht und ein erträgliches Maß an Naivität (z. B. Moores lächerliches "Skifahren" vor der Leinwand). Das einzige, was dem Film fehlt, ist der einzige echte Bond - Sean Connery. (25.10.2004)

Ein nächster hochwertiger James-Bond-Film mit Moore in der Hauptrolle. Ich bin sogar der Meinung, dass es einer der besten ist. Der Agent 007 ist hier nicht nur eine witzige Sexualmaschine. Er wird auch als Soldat gezeigt (vielleicht liegt es auch an der Offiziersuniform, die er manchmal trägt). Die Skiverfolgungsjagd ist gelungen (auch wenn sie weder so lang noch so unterhaltsam wie die in James Bond 007 - In tödlicher Mission ist). Die Passage in Ägypten (der Kameramann hat eine exzellente Arbeit geleistet) + die Musik aus Lawrence von Arabien, die hier benutzt wurde, haben mir auch sehr gut gefallen. Das Finale im Tanker wurde schwungvoll und originell gedreht. Viele Schüsse, Explosionen, wütende Matrosen, die entführt werden oder jemanden entführen. Eine nette Überraschung war die schnelle Beseitigung des Schufts. Kein Gerede, kein Blabla, Mr Bond, einfach nur eine schnelle Action und dann rasch das Bondgirl befreien (die sehr, sehr schöne Barbara Bach). Vier Sterne. (28.03.2010)

007__#10__I don't really like Roger Moore much in his later Bond films, maybe he should have quit sooner, especially in the last episodes it was clear that he doesn't have it anymore and his fights are more for laughs (I miss Connery and his brisk duels). That said, he's still pretty cool in this episode. Just like the whole film, packed with imaginative action and with a little bonus on top in the form of an amazing Bond amphibian and one of the prettiest Bond-girls in Agent Amasa. And most importantly, when I'm filthy rich, I want Jaws as my bodyguard. He's just incredibly cool, definitely the best sidekick in the entire Bond franchise. (02.10.2005)

The three-year hiatus swiftly aided this and even though the script, suffering from about a dozen rewrites this time around, is truly lame, The Spy Who Loved Me has become for me a top 3 representative of the current trio of Bonds. Sharing second to third place with On Her Majesty's Secret Service and trailing behind Goldfinger. This is mainly due to the production team's respect for the work of production designer Ken Adam, after whose painstaking and unceasing work on all the previous installments was given a blank check to create the exteriors and interiors and was thus able to go all out, both in creativity and in all his grandeur. So whether its the Eisenstein-inspired office of the KGB general, the secret British Secret Service base under Abu Simbel, the monstrous tanker-submarine, or the famed construction of the submarine Atlantis, they all retain exactly the creative period esprit of technological advancement combined with innovative design for which Bond films are famous. Plus, the closing submarine love nest is one of the coziest spots on the movie screen, where I could easily hump for days. This time, you really can cheerfully ignore the lame old man in the jacket and his rubber plaything trying to convince you of something she can't even pronounce. Because here above all you can enjoy to the fullest the environment where it takes place and the wild action scenes, where no expense was spared. The Leicester cinema where the film was screened on opening night with the assistance of Prince Charles knows a thing or two about that, where the entire cast stood in silent awe during the opening jump off the mountain. The change of director was a good decision and moved the franchise closer to the eighties as well. Bond stopped making stupid jokes and started playing a real agent, women dress much more daringly than ever before, there’s plenty of technology, and no shortage of refined shots of sunsets. The cold and intimate spy thrillers have turned into full-fledged eye-candy spectacle, without losing any of the traditional values and attributes that make Bond Bond.
