Der gutaussehende Alex hat einen außergewöhnlichen Job: Im Auftrag fürsorglicher Verwandter becirct er frustrierte Frauen, bis diese den Mut finden, ihrem aktuellen Partner endlich den Laufpass zu geben. Um den Damen nahezukommen, inszeniert er mit Hilfe seines eingespielten Teams ausgeklügelte Manöver. Die liebreizende Millionärstochter Juliette aber, die in einem Luxushotel in Monaco ihre Hochzeit vorbereitet, erweist sich als echt harte Nuss. Mit immer neuen Tricks versucht Alex, sie für sich zu gewinnen. Dann aber passiert, was eigentlich nicht passieren darf: Der Herzensbrecher verliebt sich in seine Zielperson. (ARD)

Die Kunst der Autoren, so ein prima Cocktail von Humor, der geschmackvoll ist, und von Romantik, welche nicht lästig ist, zu mischen, ist manchmal bewundernswerter als die Kunst der Autoren von hochwertigen Dramen. Sehr angenehm. Und die Außenaufnahmen von Monaco… märchenhaft. Bei manchen Sachen sind die Franzosen unübertrefflich.

A pleasant romantic comedy. I didn’t like very much the main couple at first, but they managed to earn my sympathy as the minutes went by. That said, all the hype around Heartbreaker was, IMHO, very, very exaggerated. It was nice to watch once, but that I will want to think about it – let alone watch it – again, no way. 7/10

It's hard to find an objective explanation for why this particular romance is garnering such enthusiasm. From my humble point of view, it's mainly that it has a good idea, an escapade of elegant wit and quite a skillful zigzagging between the established genre aisles. Another way to look at it is that it's a pleasure to watch a film where you say to yourself, "and now this is going to happen"... and it happens in a completely different way than you thought. 4 ½.

It's not entirely bad for being "just" a romantic film that tries to engage on both a romantic level and a humorous one. There's also a little action to give it the right drive. I just wasn't as entertained as I would expect from a good romantic comedy.
