Ali Rose verlässt Iowa, um sich in L.A. den großen Traum als Sängerin und Tänzerin zu erfüllen. Zunächst reicht es aber nur für einen Job als Kellnerin in der finanziell angeschlagenen 'Burlesque Lounge'. Hartnäckig arbeitet sie sich empor, bis sie in die Tanztruppe aufgenommen wird. Erst als die Playback-Anlage ausfällt, wird ihr einzigartiges Gesangstalent entdeckt. Tess, Besitzerin und bisheriger Star des Revuetheaters, sieht in Alis umwerfender Darbietung die letzte Chance, ihr Etablissement vor der sicheren Pleite zu retten. (ORF)

Imagine spending two hours sitting in a chicken coop trying to drown the clucking of the hens every five minutes with annoying pop songs from your MP3 player. That’s the feeling I had from Burlesque. PS: The film does have a couple of good things, but unfortunately the are not… hmm… film-like.

I am pleasantly surprised!! The dance choreography is really good, the music is nice, and the atmosphere is stylish. I was a bit bothered by Christina’s screaming though. However, she handled the dancing role well and even seemed natural at times. Kristen Bell as a brunette was not to be missed either. I'm even starting to think Cher is really human after this. No comment on the payoff of the film, but everything was so pretty and shiny... mmm, I have to give it 4 stars!

During its filming, Christina was one of the princesses of world pop, and it must be said, rightly so. Unfortunately, her musical style doesn't appeal to me at all, and her choreography only partially - actually only the part that diligently imitates dance performances from legendary musical films by Bob Fosse or newer successful musicals like Chicago. What really works in Burlesque is the decadent atmosphere of sparsely dressed women's bodies, flirts, corsets, and makeup. For that, the film will receive one star from me in the end. Everything else is bad. Musicals usually don't tend to have a significant story with a complex plot, but what Steve Antin presented as a screenwriter is insulting to the intelligence of the average viewer. At the same time, a musical cannot be considered successful if you don't take away a catchy melody or lyrics from it. Aguilera will never become an actress, and as for Cher, although she already has some acting experience, if there's something typical for her, it's that bulldog stubbornness with which she tries to keep herself in this industry at all costs. Both ladies should stick to the singing profession. The rest of the cast is completely forgettable, and unremarkable, and overall, it is a film that occupies a rather low position in its genre. Overall impression: 25%.

Es gibt kein Drehbuch, aber wer braucht das schon, wenn jedes einzelne Bild nur einem einzigen Zweck dient... damit der Zuschauer damit Liebe macht. Ein Klischee sähe anders aus, schließlich werden die traditionellen Geschichten über die Geburt eines Stars heute nicht mehr verfilmt. Beziehungsweise kann das heute niemand mehr, so dass das einzige, was hier und da noch gemacht wird, Retro-Erinnerungen an die besten Jahre, an Charme und Reiz. Schade nur, dass das Erbe von Klassikern wie Die Große Sehnsucht oder Es leuchten die Sterne und dem Backstage-Subgenre im Allgemeinen nur von Schlagersängerinnen gerettet wird. Ich verspüre also definitiv keinen Überdruck und kuschle mit jeder Musiknummer. Wow, wozu hat es nur eine der vier Lady Marmalades gebracht ;) An Chers Perfektion gab und gibt es natürlich nicht den geringsten Zweifel. "Welcome to Burlesque!" / "You haven't seen the Last of Me" ... süß waren auch Stanley Tucci und sein junger Liebhaber, der Veteran der Abgefahrenheit Alan Cumming und natürlich Kristen Bell, die wie Wein reift. "I got a dentist... Dr. Longjohn!" (und er ist fast zwei Meter groß :D) ein wunderbares Vergnügen ist dann die ganze Ekstase mit "But I am a Good a Girl" und das raffiniert sehnsuchtsvolle "Guy what takes his Time" - wo soll ich zuerst hinschauen? Show Me how You Burlesque!

Christina Aguilera hat eine der schönsten Stimmen der Welt und einen großen Stimmumfang. Sie hat kaum Konkurrenz im Gesang, daher war es in diesem Film offensichtlich, wer im Vordergrund stehen wird. Cher, die nicht alt wird, hat natürlich auch gut gesungen, jedoch hat man ihr eher die Schauspielerei – oder besser gesagt die Nicht-Schauspielerei – überlassen. Die Zuschauer*innen können einige sehr gelungene Gesangs- und Tanznummern genießen. Die Geschichte ist aber leider absolut gewöhnlich und uninteressant.

An incredibly cliché film about an ordinary girl who, with courage and talent, enters the world of vaudeville and becomes a sensation, even though she must learn how to be a proper girl and not a bitch. And, of course, there are also love troubles. Watch it just for Cher and Christina's voices. There is no other reason to watch. Yeah, Christina's pretty hot in places.
