Das Beste, was es in diesem Film gibt, d. h. die stylishe, zweitklassig süße und sicherlich teure Ausstattung, stammt aus dem sowjetischen Original Planet der Stürme, das drei Jahre älter ist. Und das Original ist auch nicht besonders toll. Die Amerikaner haben nichts Revolutionäres hinzugefügt. Sie haben nur versucht, den ziemlich interessanten Science-Fiction-Schund zu nutzen.

This remake of a pretty renowned Russian sci-fi movie (that I haven’t watched and surely never will) represents a cutely naive view of the future from the perspective of poor B-movies. They travel to Venus, but without any information or photos of the terrain, and two groups of characters move about the scenery, with dinosaurs showing up three times and ordinary fish appearing before the camera a couple of times. There are a couple of solid and smart special effects and the sentient robot is mandatory for the genre, but otherwise it’s awfully boring and tedious amateur junk that for some unknown reason has pretty decent Czech dubbing. 25%

Prehistoric Planet ist eine amerikanische Bearbeitung des sowjetischen Science-Fiction-Films Planet der Stürme, angepasst für das westliche Publikum und angereichert mit zusätzlichen Szenen mit Basil Rathbone und Faith Domergue. Der Mehrwert dieses Films ist daher sehr umstritten, aber im Gegensatz zur folgenden Bearbeitung aus der Produktion von Roger Corman mit dem Titel Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women bleibt Prehistoric Planet zumindest relativ treu zum ursprünglichen Material und klingt filmisch nicht so verzweifelt wie sein Nachfolger, bei dem der aufstrebende Peter Bogdanovich Regie führte.

I was hoping that it would be an intriguing spectacle, but unfortunately, I was not lucky and the movie "Jurassic Planet" lacks any impressive tricks that would leave you amazed for a moment. It is also lacking in everything else and it is a B-movie that simply doesn't give you many reasons to remember it.
