Film about love without love, war without war and magic without charms.
In 1914, Colonel von Haukwitz (Jiri Schmitzer) dies under mysterious circumstances during an occultist session. His fiancée, actress Klara Knabelova (Viktorie Cermakova) finds during the investigation that the corpse's head, arms and heart were removed. In an effort to find an answer she comes across colonel's closest pal – Lieutenant Heinrich Roth (Roman Zach) – and their destinies are about to mingle, too. Karel Vrana (Martin Finger), a military investigator, tries to make Klara cooperate against Roth and the occultists within the army. She denies but supports Vrana in his pursuit to find the missing colonel's body parts. Meanwhile, Lt. Roth is summoned to World War I. and Vrana sets out across Europe to look for von Haukwitz's remains used by occultist groups. Klara moves to Moravia to a farm where she was born – and receives another body part, Lt. Roth's hand. Full of disillusion, he returns to Klara's farm after the war trying to find new ways to satisfy his own irrationality. He finds them in senseless experiments with roosters or weird trips to the wilderness, where he encounters bizarre dream-like affections. However, this torridness and emptiness can't, or maybe don't want to, satisfy Klara anymore. Vrana then comes to the farm in possession of the found colonel's remains. He finds himself struck by a paralysis of a kind, being unable to offer anything to Klara, despite having been attracted to her from the very first moment. (Verleiher-Text)

Englisch I like weird movies, I even like absurd movies, and even bizarre ones, but this film kind of fits into all of them, but it's not weird enough for me to enjoy it. Czech production has interesting directions, but this one definitely doesn't belong among those that I admire. Long viewer suffering without any result. ()
