Sophia Loren als sexy Prostituierte Filumena Marturano, sie ist die langjährige Geliebte des Kaufmanns Domenico Soriano (Marcello Mastroianni). Als Domenico nun aber einer Jüngeren den Hof macht, scheinen Filumenas Zukunftspläne in Gefahr. Geschwind gaukelt sie ihm vor, todkrank zu sein. Auf dem Sterbebett dahin siechend ringt sie ihm das Versprechen ab, sie noch schnell vor dem vermeintlich nahen Ende zu heiraten. Und schon eilt ein Priester herbei, traut die beiden, und - oh Wunder - sofort tritt die Genesung ein. Natürlich gibt es für Domenico nichts Wichtigeres, als diese Ehe annullieren zu lassen... Ich habe weniger dramatische und mehr lustige Momente erwartet, weil ich gerade Lust auf eine Komödie hatte. In Hochzeit auf Italienisch gibt es leider wenig Humor. Und wenn er kommt, ist es eher seine nette und zarte Form. Es handelt sich um keine Zwerchfell-Angriffe wie z. B. bei Ein pikantes Geschenk mit Claudia Cardinale. Dreieinhalb Sterne.

Italienische Kleinheit, mit Anmut auf die Leinwand gebracht von einem etablierten Paar, das vor allem Italien geworden ist. Danke wenigstens dafür, dass es auf der billigeren LK-DVD zumindest eine bessere Synchronisation gibt ;) Denn so ein Film und noch dazu auf Italienisch, da würde mir nach einer halben Stunde der Kopf platzen.

Die italienische Schreihalskomödie mit einem moralischen Untertext wirkte auf mich nicht sonderlich berauschend. Wahrscheinlich kommt das daher, dass mir Sophia Loren überbewertet erscheint, sowohl äußerlich, als auch als Schauspielerin. Marcello Mastroianni ist ein toller Schauspieler, daran besteht kein Zweifel, und ich zweifle dies auch keinen Deut an. Wahrscheinlich habe ich zu Italien und zum italienischen Film keinen Bezug, es zieht mich kurz gesagt nach Frankreich und nach Deutschland.

I think Sophia Loren is highly overrated. In this movie she just turned thirty and she looked like a decent fifty year old Czech woman. On one hand, that is a criticism, on the other hand also a compliment. Nevertheless, I would expect a different comparison for Sophia, who is considered the Actress of 20th century. She did not dazzle me. Nor did the crazy Italian Marcello Mastroianni, who plays a character who is afraid to accept reality. Anybody can flatter and lie to the society but facing it is a form of art. Add in the classic Italian wannabe funny household and you have a movie that I really did not enjoy at all.

They met during the war during the bombing of Naples. He is a successful businessman from a well-off family and he has a soft spot for her, but he can’t and doesn’t want to give up his other amorous adventures just because of her. She is significantly younger, illiterate but with common sense and loose woman in a higher league. She loves him, but... Alternative title: how time passes in one passionate relationship full of intrigue and hypocrisy from both sides, where life is one big rollercoaster. But if you think that it is something out of a cheap romance novel, check out the director’s name. Got that? Then perhaps everything is clear... It may not be De Sica's best film, but it’s probably the best-acted one, as the proverbial chemistry between the central Loren/Mastroianni duo is something rarely seen on screen.
