21 Jump Street

After the initial intense feeling of dismay and cringe, the second half brought a satisfactory, four-star worthy experience. If I ever watch it again (which I doubt, it’s more like a snack), maybe the experience will be more fully positive, but until then, I can’t give it more than three stars. In any case, there are tonnes of one-liners, likeable protagonists, and it’s fine overall. (18.05.2012)

I could lament the fact that the "buddy chemistry" would have worked better under a different director. However, then I remembered R's load of dirty jokes and realized that although it had its dead spots (five minutes less runtime wouldn't have been a bad thing), I roared with laughter too often to just consign it to mediocrity. The moment when he shoots off the dude's penis and then picks it up off the ground with his teeth is something you simply don't normally see. (18.05.2012)

A superb comedy with slightly nostalgic reminiscences on the series. An excellent cast, Tatum (a dumb heap of muscle) and Hill (fat nerd) found themselves in their respective roles. Being thrown into unknown environment, politically incorrect jokes and explosions all work great. Sometimes it’s all a little over the top, but 21 has lots of outstanding moments. Bring on no. 2. It's pleasantly vulgar and controversial, but in terms of storyline, it's a boring and sterile affair. So, except for a few gags and several solid jokes, it's nothing but a blend of unusual situations and a few solid shots. Not really a comedy, nor a crime story. It's certainly unconventional, but it didn't really entertain me that much. The chemistry was slightly lacking. (23.11.2012)

Dieser Film hat ein paar richtig gute Witze, aber gleichzeitig auch viele vulgäre Momente. Außerdem gibt es in ihm viele peinliche Szenen, die ich einfach nicht verstehe. Anstatt von: "Was für Idioten, ich muss über sie lachen!“ habe ich nämlich meistens gedacht: "Was für Idioten, darüber soll ich wirklich lachen?“ Der Film möchte eine Kombination aus Hot Fuzz – Zwei abgewichste Profis und Starsky & Hutch (die Filmvariante) sein. Ohne sympathische Hauptfiguren und mit den oben erwähnten Minuspunkten konnte es ihm meiner Meinung nach leider nicht gelingen. Zweieinhalb Sterne. (19.08.2014)

Definitely one of the best action comedies in years. A simple story taken to perfection by a great leading couple (I personally don't mind Hill at all), punchy humour, and aptly parodic but also well shot action scenes. The best moment is the appearance of Johnny Depp, whose nostalgic cameo is unmistakable, and the most interesting character is the surprisingly sharp-tongued Captain Ice Cube, who scored perhaps the best role of his career. I don't understand what possessed the Czech distributors, such a great comedy would be great in cinemas. 80% (15.07.2013)

21 Jump Street wirkte auf mich wie eine Mischung aus Bad Boys - Harte Jungs und Unbroken, mit einer gehörigen Portion Bromance - obwohl es sich eigentlich um ein Film-Remake einer Fernsehserie aus den 80er Jahren handelt. Obwohl der Film manchmal in billigen Humor abrutschte und das Ende absehbar war, habe ich mich trotzdem gut amüsiert und von Herzen gelacht. Hill und Tatum stellten die beiden scheinbar so unterschiedlichen Typen - in Charakter und Aussehen - recht solide dar und sorgten für so manche lustige Szene. Neben dem Humor bietet der Film anständige Action, die den Zuschauer unterhält, und einige unerwartet blutige Szenen, die wiederum den Zuschauer überraschen. (27.03.2021)

Ich gehöre zu der Generation, die mit den Serien, Clips, Sendungen und Filmen der Neunziger aufgewachsen ist. Jump Street 21 war eine meiner Lieblingsserien, dank der ich möglicherweise zum ersten Mal "irgendeinen“ Johnny Depp registrierte. Es überrascht mich nicht, dass die Filmemacher in einer Zeit, in der absolut jede erfolgreiche Filmproduktion oder jeder Serienstoff recycelt wird, gerade nach einer Truppe Polizisten gegriffen haben, die sich in Schulen einschleusen und gegen verbrecherische Praktiken an Schulen vorgehen. Eine Überraschung war für mich, dass man sich nur auf das ungleiche Paar Tatum und Hill beschränkt hat. Doch es war ein hervorragender Schachzug, denn auf die beiden passt dies perfekt, und das Setzen auf ihre Verschiedenheit zahlt sich aus, denn man kann in humorvollen Situationen und Dialogen viel herausholen. Ihre Drogenphase, die anfängliche Verfolgungsjagd auf dem Fahrrad und anschließend in den Autos aus der Fahrschule gehören zum Witzigsten des gesamten Films. Daraus entsteht also eine Actionkomödie, die sehr inkorrekt ist, stellenweise ziemlich abgefahren, die aber verrückte Unterhaltung zum Entspannen im besten Sinne des Wortes bietet. Und Ice Cube hat sich endlich von seinen Scheiß Actionleistungen befreit, eine solche Rolle passt perfekt zu ihm. (11.08.2014)

Do you remember that series from the 80s where Johnny Depp started and which actually made him famous? That series about a group of policemen who go back to school, pretend to be students and solve cases? The series "Jump Street 21" also aired on our TVs and I think it left a mark on many people. It's a classic and sometimes classics need to be revived. Jonah Hill joined as a screenwriter and he and Channing Tatum played the lead roles and also decided to produce the film. This seemingly mismatched duo turned out to be a great move. Yes, a film was made based on the original series, with new characters - mostly - and a new story. The foundation doesn't differ much. The duo of police officers goes to high school because they have to solve a crime. There are definitely differences compared to the series. The film is grittier, more profane, and I think it's also more entertaining. I laughed out loud several times, and I would say that's good proof. Some scenes are really unbelievable, only occasionally and very rarely slipping into silly humor. The bar is set quite high and the production companies should be kicked for giving up on releasing "21 Jump Street" in our cinemas, even though the premiere was originally planned. It's a pity, this comedy deserves it, not only because of nostalgia. This duo of police officers will suit you, you will laugh or at least smile, and even though you might not remember the film in a while, it will be a pleasant experience for that moment.
