Was passiert, wenn künstlich manipulierte Menschen zu Waffen gemacht werden? Zum Beispiel, indem sie durch paranormale Fähigkeiten Objekte bewegen, die Gedanken anderer lesen oder gar kontrollieren können. Eine brutale Regierungseinheit, The Division, stattet normale Bürger mit telekinetischen Fähigkeiten aus und macht sie zu so genannten Pushern, damit sie zu deren Zwecken morden. Als plötzlich ein Pusher der Division trotzt und flieht, beginnt ein unerbittlicher Kampf der Machthaber gegen die Opfer, die es nicht scheuen, ihre Fähigkeiten gegen ihre Peiniger einzusetzen. The first half is a decent pilot to a decent action sci-fi series, while the second half is a compilation of the following twelve episodes. It’s really too bad given the fact that McGuigan is one of the greatest talents of his generation. Not many people have such fancy visual treats (editing, cinematography). The biggest draw is probably just the fact that this is every pedophile’s dream come true - Dakota is fifteen, plays a thirteen-year-old and looks like neither age category. :) Beyond that, Chris is growing with every movie, Camilla looks pretty stupid, and Djimon is really starting to play his tough hunters all a bit too much the same.

This movie has its good moments, but overall it is on the weaker side of what has come out of the mutant genre. The story has more twists than a pretzel, not to mention occasional jumps into the past (the glass of beer and the toothbrush) and variously predicted futures. Luckily a really interesting group of actors comes together here and apart from that guy Evans, we occasionally see a drunk and very striking Dakota Fanning. These two spend the whole picture reeling off wisecracks and you can see that they really hit it off together. And I could watch Camilla Belle in any movie whenever you like. An extra star for the marvelous shots of Hong Kong. A high 3.
