Mark Waters = ghostbuster. Otherwise, I can't explain why for the second time he tightens a romantic screw into the supernatural and it works again. Fits of laughter and sincere emotion regularly stacked one after another, a top-notch composed soundtrack and McConaughey definitely matured into a charismatic funny guy. Der nächste aus der Reihe märchenhafter romantischer Komödien mit einer Lehre (Klick, Der Glücksbringer), die bei mir immer starken Widerhall finden und ich in der Lage bin, die höchste Wertung zu vergeben, allen bissigen Kritiken zum Trotz. Matthew McConaughey, meine Herren, dass war eine Leistung, es scheint mir, dass die Rolle auf ihn passte, so gut es nur ging, und obwohl ich sein Privatleben nicht kenne (ich lese keine Boulevardblätter), würde ich glauben, dass er vielleicht etwas sich selbst gespielt hat. Jennifer Garner wie immer sympathisch, Michael Douglas gelangt in eine ähnliche Position wie vor einiger Zeit Alec Baldwin - er bekommt Rollen schlüpfriger, ekliger Alter, aber er hat das toll gespielt, das muss man sagen. Robert Forster und seine Därme bei der Hochzeitsansprache - es gibt nichts hinzuzufügen. An vielen Stellen habe ich recht laut gelacht. Kann sich jemand Dean Martin vorstellen, wie er statt Everybody loves somebody Wasser aus einem Bidet trinkt und spanisch die kanadische Hymne singt? :-) (02.08.2010)

The creators obviously view the world as black and white, so the story only has two levels: chauvinism and true American family values with nothing in between not to confuse the easily influenced target audience too much. I find it hard to say this after having seen the film, but Matthew McConaughey is not a bad actor. I do understand that even actors have to make a living, but I think he has needlessly damaged his reputation by appearing in films like this one. In my opinion, when an actor doesn't believe in his role, it reflects on his performance. But I don't want to blame it all on the actors because they really didn't have much to show here. The writing was really bad, the jokes failed to make me laugh, and there were so many melodramatic speeches about family values at the end that I wasn’t sure if it was even worth the one star. / Lesson learned: Are you someone who only cares about what people around you think of you?
