Ritter Bowen, der als letzter Ritter noch nach dem alten Kodex lebt, ist der Lehrmeister des jungen Königs Einon. Doch durch einen Drachen wird Einons Seele verdorben, und der König zum Tyrannen. Während das Volk unter Einons Brutalität leidet, will Bowen nur noch eines: sich an dem Drachen rächen, der für dies alles verantwortlich ist. Aber als er ihn endlich findet, bringt dieser Bowen dazu, seinem gnadenlosen Hass abzuschwören und wieder zurück zu seinem Glauben zu finden. (Puls4)

Great fantasy where the most likeable dragon ever literally shines. The ending is incredibly moving and it makes me very soft inside.

This film remains fresh, entertaining, and funny. An easygoing affair, where the visual effects have aged only slightly and the main characters are still timeless and charismatic. A film with a clear message. It is slightly spoiled by a low rating, but nothing can be done about it. A legend in its time.

One of my most favourite films. A beautiful and entertaining adventure where you will have a great time and maybe even shed a tear at the end.

I used to really like this film, but as one gets older, they see that it's just a simpler Hollywood spectacle, which starts quite harshly but then turns into an adventure comedy, so the more serious tone that appears at the beginning doesn't resurface. This bothered me quite a bit, and the fact that it takes place in Slovakia didn't help either.
