Das Schicksal des blauen Planeten Erde scheint besiegelt. Die Sonne, die Basis allen Lebens – Milliarden Jahre alt, Millionen Grad heiß, wird zur Gefahr. Ein Megaflare, eine gigantische Sonneneruption von unvorstellbaren Ausmaßen droht die Erdatmosphäre zu zerstören. Nur der Flug in das Glutinferno der Sonne könnte die Katastrophe noch verhindern.
