Dante Lam, by favorite director from contemporary China has switched from action to disaster and has made the best disaster film in the last few years, where the Chinese star Eddie Peng excels! The film focuses on a group of rescuers who go on various dangerous missions to save people, creating a beautiful diversity and variety in the genre. If somewhere we see a volcano eruption, earthquake or tsunami, here we have four disasters all at once, and they are all epic and magnificent. There is an oil rig, a wild river, an airplane crash, which is the craziest scene in the movie (very realistic and unpleasant, and the shots of the passengers' bodies will evoke the right discomfort), and I won't tell you the finale, suffice to say that it lasts half an hour and it's huge. In the first half there is a bit of the classic melodrama – a necessary evil in Asia – but once the film starts rolling, it holds throughout. It is thrilling, epic, the soundtrack is absolutely brilliant, the effects are magnificent, there are also some great slow-motion shots, and the intensity knows no limits. Someone complained in a foreign review that the protagonist would have never survived what he does in the film. So if you are among the viewers who wonder if someone can survive or not, you won't enjoy the film. All others will experience a disaster ride that will make you sweat your ass off. In this year's Hong Kong vs South Korea duel, it's currently 2:1 for China. For South Korea, this is an almost a made-for-TV thriller about a man who catches the killer of his wife. A little bit of torture, a little bit of interrogation, but in the 100 minutes, the movie feels a bit dull and tedious. The ending is unexpectedly brutal, and that earns it a third star. But Korea can do better. This is somewhat of a scream in the dark from a budding director. 5/10.

Great biopic about the creation of the powerful McDonald's franchise. Michael Keaton is excellent in his role, occasionally funny, and I really enjoyed watching how the story unfolds. A bit like The Social Network, with Facebook replaced by McDonald's. Interesting, educational, entertaining, and occasionally thrilling. Definitely a solid biopic. 8/10.

From the Studio that brought Nezha, the biggest Chinese hit in animation, comes another brilliant, ambitious, and competitive film that is certainly not for the youngest audiences. Visually magnificent and beautifully colorful, with an excellent pace and alternating locations and actions. The nine-tailed fox demon is stunning and overall, it is quite enjoyable to watch. It's just a little bit sad, and I can't remember an animated film as uncompromising to the characters as this one. The post-credits scene is absolutely brilliant. Hollywood falls short on this. 8/10.

This Irish attempt to imitate the British The Inbetweeners is not very funny. The main two characters are Irish gypsies, so they are not very likeable, the Irish slang was okay, but story-wise, it's like a road movie where nothing crazy or interesting really happens. Occasionally, you can chuckle, the policeman on their trail and the disabled drug dealer were funny, but overall it's just average. 5/10.

Visually, Adam is captivating, the story is interesting, and I hope it's leading to a great battle. Can't wait for the 4th episode.

A crime documentary from Netflix about the hunt for a notorious serial killer who terrorized Los Angeles in 1985, killing in the name of Satan. Three hours of suffocating and unpleasant material about Richard Ramirez, who oozes evil miles away. It is interesting that this guy killed without any pattern. He raped old, young, women, men, and even children, and only a few people were only attacked. It is not pleasant to watch, the crime scene photos are very brutal, the dialogues are impressive, and the collection of evidence is incredibly demanding. It watched in one breath. It is really very good and definitely a must for fans of serial killers and gritty crime. 8/10.

A decent psychological drama that relies on two excellent performances. Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon are superb, but is that enough? Not for me. The main character suffers from apocalyptic dreams about an impending disaster and decides to build an atomic shelter, even though no one believes him and he is considered crazy. The visions are decent, although they don't show them graphically they only speak about them, and I consider that a minus. Not much happens in the film, but it's not boring, which is positive. However, the expected pay off at the end doesn't come and that is almost unforgivable. I could have endured another twenty minutes calmly if they had come up with something bigger, but that's only in a dream. It's not bad, but a bit unsatisfying for me. Nice visuals, decent atmosphere, and one quite solid jump-scare. Overall, good but could have been shorter. 6/10.

An original and visually impressive sci-fi caper with a clear Blomkamp's signature. It's a bit of Star Wars, Elysium, and Guardians of the Galaxy, but as a whole, the film feels fresh and very unique. For only 21 million USD, the Koreans serve something that in Hollywood would cost 150 million, and that is admirable. Set in the year 2092, the film focuses on the crew of the ship Victory, who are space waste collectors. Soon, they come across a humanoid robot little girl, who is considered a weapon of mass destruction, and they get involved in a risky business. The film has a decent pace, beautiful and grand shots of space and various stations, solid action (although there could have been more), occasional humor, likable main characters, and a villain like out of Marvel. I could imagine it being a bit grittier, darker, and more action-packed, but this choice is also good. The combo of Netflix and South Korea is usually a guarantee of good quality.
