He brings with him his military experience and probably some of the trauma. He manages to be socially awkward, but then he also sings and dances, surprisingly gracefully, which you wouldn't even believe considering his physical build. Salman Khan is the star of this movie, and whether you like it or not depends on him. The alternation of comedy and drama unfortunately doesn't work so well here.

Maybe a little surprising hit, but maybe not so much. It is a combination of good and clever humor, great Czech actors, and a fairy tale story that can captivate you without being unnecessarily cliché, and you don't mind the happy ending at all. Definitely a film that can please the audience in the cinema.

Ang Lee is a good director, and I don't think anyone doubts that. Additionally, this is a film that has a lot of good elements like cinematography, editing, pacing, scene transitions, but the most important aspect, what the film should actually convey, is simply delivered weakly and doesn't really lead anywhere. But it might make you think about how pointless war is and what we consider heroism.

The movie Jack Goes Boating is based on the acting performances, which is, unfortunately, a pity because that's really the main focus, more important than the story itself, which revolves around four people, none of whom have it particularly easy in life because they don't really know how they should live. The actors here are simply good. And only them, I might add.

An attempt to make a crime comedy that also tries to say something or have some message within it, but overall it simply disappoints in all aspects, or rather, in all aspects it's just average. Just when you feel like a bigger idea is coming, it's immediately killed by some other mediocre scene.

Zach Galifianakis in a role I quite like, moreover in a film that tackles a grateful theme - adolescence, further complicated here by the fact that the main character (not Zach Galifianakis) is quite disturbed and commits suicide. He has to find his way among the similarly disturbed. Unfortunately, it's kind of bland in places and the main character is actually uninteresting.

Charlton Heston isn't one of those actors that I particularly like. His macho approach doesn't sit well with me, and it doesn't sit well with me in this film either, although he may be trying to show how the white man managed to damage such beautiful places like Hawaii. But the Chinese and other Asian actors here are much more interesting than the main star.

A war film, or should I say anti-war film, which fits more with 1944, when it was made, than with the present day. In my opinion, it is not so topical anymore, although war is still raging. It's sometimes comical, but the final moralizing just didn't sit well with me, and neither did the amount of dull moments where the dialogues couldn't save it.

In the movie, you can definitely feel some societal elements that are present in Cuba - poverty, but also the strong patriotism that stands against something new, something evil. However, the film is good, original, entertaining, and it also works on a dramatic level, with even the finale presented with humor but still manages to touch you. Cubans and Spaniards hit the mark with Juan of the Dead.

This Stuff'll Kill Ya! isn't one of the best movies Herschell Gordon Lewis ever made, but it's a very good movie that has that spirit you expect from Herschell. It's sometimes so dumb it hurts, there are tragic acting performances, there's gore, and overall, it's just bad, but precisely because of all these elements, the movie manages to captivate and can even entertain you.
