Years later, I found the courage to watch it again and I came to a turning point in that I don't mind Cvikýř so much anymore. It's still no miracle, but the solid Hrušínský and Štěpánková duo have their moments, especially when complemented by Dočolomanský, and the casting didn't fall short with Šulajová either. However, it is still too bad that it is probably unintentionally more of a socially realistic probe into the life of a small village and its inhabitants than an imaginative fairy tale for young people. The fairy-tale playfulness is mostly just Soukup's successful music and a few props whose show ideally recalls the best that other Czech fairy tales already offered in full measure.

Another badly made period piece, where only Eliška Balzerová as Emma Gabrielová and the devil Josef Nedorost as Kurt Schaller work. What does it matter that they set out a couple of retro cars and commercials on the streets and Vašut spends half the film in his leather jacket looking like Patrick Swayze? The make-up artists and prop makers should be ashamed of themselves and look around the realities of 1936 and forget about Soukup's obvious attempt to copy the film Rocky. The musical background operates over and over again with a single musical motif and authentic dance music is substituted by Havelka. However, I was looking forward to a Czech story about a different Schmeling and gave it repeated chances.

DesiLu produzierte schließlich außer I Love Lucy auch Shows wie Raumschiff Enterprise, The Andy Griffith Show, Mission: Impossible, Die Unbestechlichen, Mannix, Wyatt Earp, Our Miss Brooks, The Real McCoys, Gomer Pyle, USMC, Tennisschläger und Kanonen, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Make Room For Daddy/The Danny Thomas Show und The Jack Benny Program.

Ich würde nicht sagen, dass es sich um eine der misslungenen Anne-Rice-Verfilmungen handelt, wie man gemeinhin behauptet :) Natürlich ist der Fall um Interview mit einem Vampir und Die Königin der Verdammten ein komplizierter Fall, und dies ist wieder etwas anderes. Aber hier denke ich, das Kabelfernsehen Showtime hat das Thema sehr gut reflektiert. Darüber hinaus gab es Jennifer Beals eine der interessanteren Gelegenheiten.

Natürlich werde ich nie vergessen, wie wir mit einer jungen Lehrerin aus Colorado über das scheinbare "Nichtende" diskutierten. Doch das ganze Missverständnis beruhte auf der Tatsache, dass die junge Amerikanerin solche dominanten Details wie die Mode und die Entwicklung der Automobilindustrie nicht verstand. Ohne ihre Kenntnis ist es dann unmöglich, die Zeitverschiebung zu verstehen.
