Biografie

Karen Croner produced and directed documentaries after attending USC Film School. Ms. Croner then moved into writing for television with credits including the CBS telefilms Scattered Dreams, starring Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Tyne Daly, and Big Dreams & Broken Hearts: The Dottie West Story; the CBS series TV 101, starring Matt LeBlanc; and, for TNT, the telefilm Cold Sassy Tree, starring Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway.
Her feature screenplays include One True Thing for Universal Pictures, starring Meryl Streep and Renée Zellweger. The film earned Ms. Streep Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Another feature projects for the screenwriter include Hello Ghost, for director/producer Chris Columbus; Tribes of Palos Verdes, starring Chloë Moretz, which Ms. Croner produced with Mark Gordon; It's a Miserable Life, a Christmas-themed comedy, also with Mr. Gordon producing; and Daughter of the Queen of Sheba, which she produced with Jacki Lyden of National Public Radio. An authorized stage version of the latter is also available as a fundraising tool to and for organizations addressing mental illness.
Ms. Croner was writing and, with Fake Empire, producing a planned television series for ABC, Born to Be Wild, based on her own life experiences growing up in the Hollywood Hills' Laurel Canyon.
