She is a Mexican/Salvadorian filmmaker. She majored in Directing for Film at the Cinematographic Training Center of Mexico and has a Master’s Degree in Documentary Filmmaking from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. She gained international acclaim with her first feature The smallest place, which was showcased at more than 60 international festivals. Her work has been recognized by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, with four Ariel awards, including Best Documentary and Best Director for her film Tempestad, which premiered at the Berlinale Forum in 2016. Tempestad was selected by the AMACC to represent Mexico in the Óscar Awards and the Goya Awards, being nominated in the latter to compete in the category of best Ibero-American film. She has given conferences and workshops about documentary filmmaking in academic spaces such as the University of Colombia, the Community Film School of Madrid, and the Cinematographic Training Center of Mexico, among others. Within her academic activity, the editing of the book “The Journey, routes and paths traveled to reach another planet”, produced by the CCC and DocumentaMadrid, stands out.
