Biografie

Born in 1963, Gilles Marchand studies film at the IDHEC in Paris. He begins his career as a screenwriter with Les Sanguinaires (Laurent Cantet, 1997) and directs several short films, including L'Étendu (1987). He co-writes with the filmmakers Laurent Cantet, for Human Resources (1999), and Dominik Moll, for Harry, He's Here to Help (2000), which is selected for the official competition in Cannes and wins him a César for Best screenplay. He then directs Who Killed Bambi? (2003) and Black Heaven (2010), both of which are also shown in Cannes.
