Biografie

Filip Cenek is a current candidate for the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize for artists under 35 years of age. He graduated from the Faculty of Visual Arts of VUT in Brno, where he is currently a lecturer at the Department of Video, in subjects related to the production and reception of moving images. He has collaborated with the architect and musician Ivan Palacký. He is the recipient of the Josef Hlávka Prize. He also co-organizes the Brno-based festival New New! as well as being one of the curators of the section Theatre Optique of the Fresh Film Fest, annual International Festival of First Features and Student Films.

In 2006 he co-founded the electronic band MIDI LIDI, to which he contributed its visual outlook in collaboration with Jan Šrámek and Magdalena Hrubá (until summer 2010). As a visual artist his work is represented in the Collections of the National Gallery in Prague, the Marek Collection and several international cinematheques. His work is occasionally presented at various contemporary art exhibitions and festivals both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Centre Pompidou, Paris, EMAF, Osnabrucku, NIVAF, Nagano, Parker's Box, New York, Metrónom, Barcelona, TransFusion, Hamburg, SPOR, Aarhus etc.).
