Biografie

In 1989, JEFF TREMAINE graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Fine Art. Using his formal background in graphic design, he became the Art Director at Freestylin' magazine, which led to his role in helping create Big Brother Skateboard Magazine in 1992. It was during this time that Tremaine, Spike Jonze, and Johnny Knoxville laid the seeds for jackass, a television series that would become a cultural phenomenon, spawning the franchise of hits: jackass: the movie, jackass number two and jackass 3D, which were all #1 at the box office, with 3D earning $50 million dollars during its opening weekend and setting a record for biggest October debut.

Beyond directing and producing Jackass, Tremaine created and executive produced a number of television series, including MTV's Wildboyz, Rob & Big, Nitro Circus, Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, Ridiculousness, and, most recently, the Adult Swim series, Loiter Squad, starring "Odd Future". Tremaine directed "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa", a loosely scripted narrative starring Johnny Knoxville. Tremaine has directed music videos for "Turbonegro", "Andrew WK", "The Sahara Hot Nights" and "Weezer".

He has also produced documentaries, including Steve-O: Demise and Rise, which aired on MTV in 2009, and The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, a feature-length documentary about a family of outlaws that Tribeca Film acquired and distributed theatrically in 2010. He went on to direct and produce ESPN 30 For 30's The Birth of Big Air, an inspirational documentary about BMX legend Mat Hoffman.
