Biografie

Jerzy Kawalerowicz (1922-2007) was an acclaimed screenwriter and director. He studied painting and film. He began as an assistant director, making his debut with the feature film The Village Mill (Gromada, 1952). He earned international renown and festival awards for his dramas Night Train (Pociąg, 1959), Mother Joan of the Angels (Matka Joanna od aniolów, 1961), Death of a President (Smierc prezydenta, 1978), and The Inn (1983). He also directed the historical films Pharaoh (1966) and Quo Vadis (2001), which was also made into a TV series.
