Vladimir Penev

Vladimir Penev was born in 1958 in Sofia. He graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in 1982 and holds a Master's degree in Acting in Prof. M. Mladenova's class.

He has worked at Varna Drama Theatre, Nikolay Binev Youth Theatre, Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Sfumato Theatre Laboratory, Little City Theatre Off The Channel, etc. He has been featured in numerous plays of the most prominent Bulgarian directors among which Cervantes' Don Quixote directed by Aleksandar Morfov; Molière's Tartuffe directed by Margarita Mladenova; Konstantin Iliev's Nirvana directed by Margarita Mladenova; Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Aleksandar Morfov; Chekhov's Uncle Vanya directed by Ivan Dobrev; Chekhov's The Three Sisters directed by Margarita Mladenova; Strindberg's Dance of Death directed by Margarita Mladenova and many others.

He has been featured in numerous feature and TV productions, plays leading film roles in The Poet and The Devil directed by Ivan Rosenov; Emilia's Friends directed by Lyudmil Todorov; Sand Glass directed by Georgi Dyulgerov; Touched By God directed by Petar Popzlatev; Matriarchate directed by Docho Bodzhakov.

He is in the possession of two Askeer awards for an Actor in a Leading Role and Union of Artists in Bulgaria's Icarus, awards at the festivals in Rieka (Croatia), Ohrid (Macedonia), and an Actor in a Leading Role award at Plovdiv Golden Chest Film Festival as well.
